The hostel was nice and clean I can’t stay something much but you will get what you pay I’m booked hostel by Booking but don’t trust the price this you booked because is always going up and down until you check in the hotel them will say to yo how much you have to pay BF in nice bus have only 2 you can choose one of it tea and coffee not including. Overall it great i think better more than any hostel at there but not for my experience

This SaylomYen Guesthouse is the older brother of the Saylomyen Guesthouse in an earlier listing. Both guesthouses are owned by the same person. This Saylomyen Guesthouse, on Saylom Road, near the Vientiane Municipal Public Health Dept. is an older, funky guesthouse, used by local Lao and international visitors who are many times visitors to Laos. Rooms run $8-15 a night, most include inside toilets and showers. Some rooms have on-demand hot water heaters, one room has a TV. Daily rate includes linen change and a bottle of purified water. The guesthouse also sells softdrinks and Beer Lao. The Lao staff is very friendly and laid back.
     This guesthouse is about 1/4 mile from the Talat Sao Morning Market, and about 1/2 mile from the Patuxai Monument.
     The reviewer has stayed at this guesthouse 9 times and likes the atmosphere of the guesthouse and friendly staff. If you have local Lao male friends, the guesthouse staff does not mind if they stay overnight with you.

We pass 3night in this peacefull place, taking our time, watching the waterfall and sharing time with mama tiam's family! a very good moment!

For find this guesthouse, in tad lo, just before the bridge, turn right ( near the blue house ) and still straight to saylomyen !

Original Saylom Yen Guesthouse

Typical bamboo hut on riverview

Cheap bamboo fan singles available on 2nd floor. AC rooms comfortable and inexpensive enough with lots of local character and tv suspended up high. Attached bathrooms pretty funky but slowly being renovated. Mixed couples are permitted. No snide looks or racist rules. Locals also stay here, mostly salesmen or Lao families with kids. Adequate low key respectable place. Quiet and convenient. Nice inner courtyard garden with concrete deer and cement tables where you can snack on fish and somtam.

Close to talad sao morning market and out of the main foreigner ghetto.

I found Vientiane pricey anyway, but this was cheaper than everything else. It shows, we are not glamourous travellers and the room had air con and a (teeny, tiny) tv so no real complaints. Very basic. My complaint is with the management really. We arrived and they knew nothing about our booking from booking.com. We had to tell him everything and in the end he kept upping the price. We had booked a double bed and yet we arrived to a very tired room with two single beds. We had asked how much a taxi to the airport was and he started with 80 000Lak. Later we decided to just book it, there was a younger man at the desk and he gave us 60000LAk> so we booked for the next morning. While we waited that morning, it was very heavy rain. We were early and the guy points to a tuk tuk out the front with a guy sweeping off the rain. We had specified a taxi, especially in the rain and he just kept saying that was the taxi and that it would be 60. Very annoyed, as they were basically saying you won't get a taxi and this was our best bet. They kept laughing at us and speaking to each other in the Laos language, eventually as it was raining hard, we said we'd give the tuk tuk (a friend of the young boys) no more than 40. He agreed, we went to the airport which is close by, but we got soaked, and when we got to the airport he tried to get another 10 out of us- We'd already taken our bags so we just walked away but it wasn't a nice farewell to Laos where we'd had a good couple of weeks.
