The restaurant "Puck Luck Thai" doesn't even have it's own Tripadvisor page, but we accidentally stumbled into it and couldn't have been happier. The atmosphere is beautiful, the food was gorgeous (best Tom Yam soup I ever had, and I had many!) and the service was beyond anything we've experienced anywhere else in Laos. We ordered one starter and two main courses, and the kind (non-English speaking waitress) brought us on top for free a "greeting from the kitchen", free tea and a free dessert.

If I could give 6 points I would do that.

excellent thaï food,a kind chef and warm welcoming and who obviously love cooking. unforgettable and tasty stir-fried Mekong fish, beef salad and excellent dessert. we went to dinner two times within two days

While visiting Laos in March, we ate lunch at a new restaurant in Luang Prabant and found the Villa Puck Luck eatery very delightful. After several days of traditional Lao food, it was fantastic to find a Thai place with flavorful food that was not too spicy. The restaurant recently opened after operating for years as a guesthouse. Supol, the chef, was also very friendly and that made it a special treat.

Heritage style hotel near the river and temples. Quiet and clean.
Charming little room well decorated with balcony.
The morning offering to the monks takes place in the street of the guesthouse.
Friendly staff.
Good restaurant.
Good price.

Cosy Lao Room

If you like backpacker accomodation in heritage style, this is the place to stay. 
Unfortunately it did not appeal to us. We had the rooms on the groundfloor, which were dark. smelly and overall unpleasant. The only great thing was the powerful and hot shower! Lots of stray dogs barking all night and you hear every flush from any toilet in the building. Breakfast is not worth mentioning. We went outside to get a decent meal instead. We felt bad for the lady who managed the place, since she was very friendly, but we left after one night.
