What I'm looking for when I travel is a quiet environment with a nice view, preferably from a balcony. I found all this and more at the Mekong Moon Inn ll. I was over the moon when I found it as I was looking for a place driving my scooter around. I immediately booked for 8 days and never regretted it. The room (108) was immacutaly clean and bright (wall to wall windows) and offered an unobstructed view of the Mekong from a large and intimate balcony (2 chairs, 1 table, 1 large sun umbrella) 
The bed was very comfortable (not one of those hard beds) and the white bedding was nice and fresh. It has a/c (which I didn't need), a flat screen tv with a few english and movie channels, excellent wifi, a small fridge with water bottles every day, a kettle with tea and coffee and a place to put your clothes and suitcase. The bathroom is also up to speed with all you'll need in there provided, even toothbrushes and comb.
Last but not least, a very pleasant staff who strives to help you in any way they can without expecting anything in return. Very sincere and genuinely nice people. That always makes the stay more pleasant.
There is a restaurant area overlooking the Mekong but you'll need to notify the staff if you plan on eating onsite. The coffee was delicious as was the food.
You will need a scooter to get to town and around. You can get one in town for 80,000 kips/day as it appears the hotel does not provide scooters anymore. 
I'm not that easy to please and I can say I highly recommend this place. I would definitely come back.

Great all around

Set in a village along rutted dirt roads, this is Laos beyond the tourist hype of LP. The accomodation is a newly built river lodge with very comfortable rooms. The views are superb from river-facing rooms. Construction work in progress but should be peaceful and quiet when completed. The deck area and kitchen are a work in progress. Free lift to and from town at set times so not stuck here with nothing to do. Cycling into town along the shortcut is a bone-jarring experience but you can stop at the handicraft village en route. Would definitely stay here again minus the construction din.

Had great experience stayed here as the staff was so helpful and try to help on all my queries. Just the location pretty far from the city centre and not recommend if you're traveling without transport.

Great hotel with helpful staff but the location is too far

Large room with good view ower Mekong from the balcony.
Breakfast was good but not much to choose from.  As others are commenting, this is far from the town with nothinh much to see nearby. Free transport morning and evening to town.

Pros: 
- friendly staff 
- awesome view of river and hills
- rooms are spacious and quite luxurious for the price. 
Cons: 
- there is a hotel with same name in city center without 'II' but adds to the confusion, maybe whilst booking hotel could add a on-liner so guests are not a bit lost .
- 50,000 kip or 6/7 dollars one way to city center (hotel provides tuk tuk but only twice a day - not enough) 
- far from city center so either be ready to spend tuk tuk or ride a scooter.
