Le Vang Bua Villa

Excellent stay at Le Vang Bua, l really enjoyed it! I stayed eleven nights from New Years’ Eve and my choice of Le Vang Bua Villa from other TripAdvisor reviews proved an absolutely sound one, l had a great stay and would thoroughly recommend this property!! Where do l start?? 11 nights is a long time... Firstly the staff were all excellent, super helpful & friendly, typical Lao. Secondly my room was very acceptable at the price paid, my room opened up onto the pool (which gets the sun but at this time of year is a bit bracing inevitably as it’s only mid high 20s heat of the day - nice sunbathing area by the way & good sun beds), the shower was excellent, the room had a safe, a fridge, tea & coffee, etc and l slept really well. Thirdly the breakfasts changed EVERY day, l was really impressed, some days the Lao food was really delicious though every day l got the staff to microwave my food as by 9am it wasn’t looking as hot as when cooked. Each day breakfast set me up, the staff who cooked & served all helpful & delightful, the little group of kittens who would sit near a table hoping for tid-bits incredibly cute!!! At this time of year it can be a bit chilly having breakfast and there is a sun terrace at the back of the Villa you can go & warm up!! They have a charming selection of local gifts in reception and l launched into several of those on leaving as l saw little better walking round Luang Prabang... Finally although the location isn’t central within Luang Prabang this was almost an advantage. It got me out walking - the bamboo bridge is 200 meters from the hotel and if you take that it’s easy for the Wat Xien Thong end of the temples and night market area. Otherwise you can take a hotel bicycle (l did so only once, preferring to walk) over the cyclists bridge which has a pedestrian walkway 150m from the hotel. The bridge is an experience but it’s fine, don’t look down and pick your feet up!!! I crossed it more than a dozen times for sure... you can really walk everywhere in Luang Prabang, l only got a taxi 2 or 3 times... Most especially before the bamboo bridge, ie 200m from Le Vang Bua Villa is the exceptional Dyen Sabai restaurant, spectacularly perched on the riverbank overlooking the bridge... l loved this restaurant and was there every second day!! Le Vang Bua Villa is every value based traveler’s dream hotel for Luang Prabang. What’s not to like at the very reasonable price?? I really enjoyed my stay!!
