Sengahloune Villa

The hotel is right at the boat landing on Don Khone. The clean, large room had air-con and a nice balcony with a lovely view of the river. Breakfast was not included. All in all, the room had excellent value, especially compared with our previous room (c.f. Baba Guesthouse, Don Det). Nu, the manager, was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. Tip: just across the bridge, on Don Det, the Long Island Guesthouse has a pool that visitors can use (ca. €2/day, incl. towel). As it was very hot when we were there, we went to the pool twice – despite it being rather full at times, it was still very enjoyable and worthwhile. We enjoyed Don Det a lot, but we liked Don Khone even more, perhaps somewhat due to our ages (43 & 47). Don Det is definitely more of a backpackers’ place and simply has more visitors than Don Khone, which is a bit quieter and, for us, even more relaxed. In any case, the 4000 Islands are definitely worth visiting.
