The hotel is located in safe and quiet location for Kisumu standards. There's WiFi, but it was down thew entire time during our stay. The rooms are very clean, and I particularly liked the mesh on the windows that kept our mosquitoes. The breakfast was pretty good.

Staff was very pleasant and helpful.  Our room was comfortable, with a good mosquito net over the king-sized bed.  Good thing because there were lots of mosquitos, so near the Lake.  Pillows were comfortable as well.  There was a nice mirror in the room, which is a little unusual, a straight chair and an easy chair, plus a nightstand.  Nice wardrobe with some drawers.
The shower was a problem!  It was slick (not unusual) but the controls were set so high that I couldn't have reached them without a stepstool.  My husband could, but not really comfortably.  The water was hot and pressure was good.
They did bring a clean towel every day, but we had to ask for a bathmat and more than one towel.  Every time.  
A nice hot-pot on a little table by the door, but no plug near it.  2 cups, sugar, a spoon, and 3 packs of instant coffee.  3.  Got more, just had to ask.
A very nice dining room with good food; we had breakfast and dinner every day we were there.  The 2nd morning we asked if the bread could be toasted, and they cooked it in a panini maker for us.  :-)  Another big table with chairs just off the front reception area, which had comfortable couches and a pleasant view of the front.  We played games at that table every evening.  Just off the restaurant area is an open courtyard with tables and chairs where you can eat or just sit and visit.
Kisumu is really not a tourist town, and we felt very fortunate to have such a nice hotel.

Good value!

Nice hotel

Located within the Kisumu town.No need placing an advance reservation as the door is open  24 hours.With night club opposite,sleep quality is disturbed .Clean room,hot shower ,friendly staff. Breakfast  served beginning 7 :00am  and no provisions of special arrangements for guests who would wish to have their breakfast before the stripulated time.

We arrived in Kisumu late in the evening and were desperate to find somewhere to spend the night, after looking driving around we settled for New East View. This establishment is in a perfect location close to the city centre, with ample and secure parking. The rooms are clean and very basic. The showers are hot and powerful. There is not really much to write about the room but it is good enough for the price. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise, while it did not have a lot of variety every aspect of a full breakfast was available. The fruits and juice were fresh, eggs made to your liking and all was served in timely fashion. Overall, this is a place I would recommend for the budget traveller who is not interested in a lot of pampering.

Right place if on a budget

Nearly everything about this hotel is just off - wait till you get to the room! The paint on the walls is moldy and peeling off, the floor has weird stains from no one knows where, the shower curtain has never been washed or changed for a while, judging from the brown filth covering its base. The bulb in the bathroom was not working and it took over an hour to get it replaced. One wonders where staff check the rooms before checking-in guests. For KES 2,000 a night, this hotel was relatively more expensive than most other budget hotels in the area so one would expect slightly better service and amenities. There was no towel or hot water as well! How is that? In a nutshell, just gross and 0 value for money!

Outrageously Filthy

A budget Hotel with very little to offer. We got a room with no regulated shower water temp, its either too hot or very cold,Tv button up not working  and without a remote control, Rooms does not have either air-con or at worse a fan,Towels in a pathetic state, Basic like soap, we had to go back to the reception and get some.
Breakfast ok by its standard. Location is perfect and security good.
All in All i would NOT recommend it to anyone even if on a budget.


Having made prior reservation on arrival we found the front office had already given out our rooms to other guests and they were very unapologetic for it. My advice is to keep calling if you want to keep your reservation, but it is very disappointing to travel all the way knowing you have a room only to start looking for accomodation late into the evening.
