One of the best places we have stayed in Japan. We spent 4 nights here on a family ski trip and cant wait to go back. The owners are very helpful and run a welcoming, clean and comfortable place. They helped us organise transport to and from the station and answered all questions about the ski slopes, lift tickets etc. The rooms are large with plenty of hanging space and room for ski/boot bags and all your luggage. The lounge area has a fireplace lit every night to keep you cozy while waiting for the amazing 5 course dinner. Yes, what they all say here on trip advisor is true, the food is top quality. Dont be put off by the lack of ensuite, there are comfortable, clean bathrooms just a few steps away from each bedroom. The small bath is actually much prettier than the photos show and there is room for about 3 people to shower and soak at the same time. We never found it crowded or had to wait. You can also book it all to yourslef if you prefer. It's even prettier if you open up one of the windows looking out on to the snow. We will be back for sure.

Family friendly ski in ski out

Spent four nights here with a family group of 12. The hotel is spotless and you can watch the ski lifts outside your room. Totally ski in ski out. The owner is absolutely fantastic and very helpful with all arrangements. The share bathrooms are clean and the bath downstairs is great. You will read about the food. Believe all the reviews about the food and more. The five course meals are served to you like a top restaurant- by far the best food of whole trip. Adults loved it. Kids loved it. Book it. 

Just stay here

This is a very pretty family run hotel right beside one of the easier slopes at Hodaigi allowing ski in ski out. It was welcoming, comfortable and warm and the 5 course French style evening meal was magnificent. Hisako and her son were very kind and helpful while I was arranging our holiday and on our arrival. We loved it!

Family ski holiday

We spent 6 very enjoyable nights at the family run pension, Chalet La Neige. This non smoking hotel, is ski in /out, offers discounted lift tickets and has a separate ski storage room. Chalet La Neige, is immaculately clean with a communal lounge area and lovely dining room. We had a comfortable, good sized, western twin room with a wardrobe, hanging racks, desk and couch, overlooking the Number 8 ski lift. Bathroom facilities were shared. The rates were very reasonable and included a hearty breakfast and a spectacular 5 course western style dinner,cooked by Hisako the owner. The staff were efficient, friendly, helpful and spoke English. High speed internet was a bonus.
Access was a 35min local bus ride from Minakami Station to bus stop “Kubo” and from there we were picked up by Yasu, Hisako’ s son.
We would recommend staying at this pension in Hodaigi.

What a Gem

Super helpful and accommodating staff, simple and comfortable sleeping arrangements, meals were beyond expectations. Having a hot spring in the building was fabulous. 

Would definitely go back - planning a ski trip in winter and will stay here for sure. 

Fantastic Chalet

Ideally located with all services and kind hosts.Nice experience.

I stayed at Chalet La Neige during the ski season. It is located literally a few feet from the ski slopes and they provided courtesy shuttle buses from the nearest bullet train stations to both the ski resort, Takaragawa onsen and of course, the chalet. The staff and service were amazing as well as English friendly for those of us who can speak only minimal Japanese. They offered ski/snowboarding equipment rentals as well as ski/snowboarding clothing rentals. The course meal was one of the best I've ever experienced with lobster tail, steak, hot soup and an amazing dessert. I look forward to staying here again next ski season!

Fantastic Service.

We are supposed to be booked from 14th to 18th dec 2015 for a winter ski stay at chalet la neige. Ms Hisako have been very kind to call one week ahead to cancel e stay as there is no snow and having travelled so far that we should cancel e booking. However, as e whole Japanese alps and ski slopes in Europe are literal disasters this season, we decided to stay from 16th to 18th Dec. It had to be e best winter Christmas with snow showers at night. The host Ms Hisako and family's impeccable service from lighting up e wood fire place, Japanese style hot bath,  French course dinners including prime cut steak, ise lobsters, king crabs, homemade soup all served HOT and good quality Japanese wine bottled specially for chalet la neige. It is just next to Hodaigi ski slope with dramatic views. Quiet getaway and not too far from Tokyo via Shinkansen dropping off at Jomo-kogen.
