I see some reviews mentioning rude staff but we did not encounter any of that. The staff we did encounter were very pleasant and professional. They sent the shuttle to the station for our luggage because we wanted to have lunch and then go on a tour immediately. When we finally came to the hotel our bags had been moved to our room. The room as well as the public areas were very clean and tidy. Room was spacious enough for our family. Breakfast and dinner buffets were quite good as well. I at least had no problems finding things to eat.

My wife used the public ladies bath and my sons booked the private bath for themselves. All good from what I heard (I did not use any of the baths). There's a nice bit of walk along the lake shore and places to sit close to the water. Lake view from our room was excellent.

Beds nice and firm, pillows a little too soft though. The bathroom could do with a bit more ventilation.

This place is fairly expensive but I feel we got good value for our money. I would go back for another stay.

Very nice 2-night stay at this hotel

Fuji Lake Hotel says on its website that they are a "people-friendly" hotel but they were anything but that, when we visited the hotel one day during our 3-day stay at Lake Kawaguchi in Fujikawaguchiku Japan. 
My sisters visited the hotel in the pre-pandemic days of 2017 and had a memorable and enjoyable afternoon having tea and cakes in the hotel's dining area. I had a desire for cakes one afternoon during our stay, and we took a bus from Kawaguchiko station specifically to this hotel hoping to partake their afternoon sweet delights.
There were six of us, five sisters ad a brother-in-law. we arrived outside the hotel, which showed a huge poster promoting le Pain de Daniel  showing danish pastries. So we were hopeful as we entered the lobby. We wanted to go into the lounge filled with sofas when two staff members - a man and a woman stopped us. The man asked if we were staying guests at the hotel and we said no but that we were there to have tea/coffee and cakes. He said cakes could be had across the street (there were no shops opened selling pastries). Then a second lady joined them and took charge, looking very determined to "handle us". 
Frowning very heavily and looking very stern, she asked again if we were staying at the hotel. I said we weren't but my sisters had a great time they visited to have tea in 2017 and we were here to do the same.  I glanced towards the sofa area to ascerrain if there was a display of desserts, but she immediately stretched out her hands and very rudely told us, no tea no cakes. 
basically, she wanted us to get out of the hotel. Her whole stance was - "you lot, get out of my hotel". I've never in all my travels come across such an ill-mannered and disrespectful hotel staff as her. 
she was rude, discourteous  and arrogant. Even if we were not hotel guests, there was no ground for such a hostile and rude approach. she could have very politely explained that the hotel is simply not opened to outside guests - although that was clearly contradicted by that huge poster outside advertising pastries. 
We could have been potential hotel guests in the future  - my sisters love visiting Japan and has been many times. But her total attitude tells me and my family that this hotel is not welcoming in any way. I've been all over the world from camping on the frozen Arctic Ocean to the US, to the heart of Africa, to the southern reaches of New Zealand and Australia and reaches of China, but I would never ever step into a hotel like Fuji Lake Hotel again.

I had terrible experience with agoda for this hotel. I travelled with my wife and two kids at the age of 3 and 5 and the booking price included breakfast and dinner. However, it turned out the price was mistakenly charged for the price of four audits with breakfast and dinner.  I have asked for a reasonable refund for their mistake but the reply was ridiculous and frustrating. Bad company!

We decided and booked our Tokyo travel a week before flying so we didn’t have the luxury of choices. Fuji Lake Hotel had a room available so we went for it. We spent 3 nights there. 
The hotel looks dated and we read its history as being one of the earliest built at Lake Kawaguchiko. Our room was spacious and faced the lake. After spending three days there we didn’t feel like we missed Mt Fuji view as we saw it throughout the day. I recommend going to the dining room early and get the counter seats facing Fuji San. The view of the lake is also great as the dining room is on 7th Fl and has panoramic window view. We walked around the lake and took in the view from various perspectives. There are many hotels all around the lake and we reckon that the hotels located across  Fuji Lake hotel would offer a much more picturesque view of Mt Fuji, though a bit distant. Imagine a view with the lake in foreground and Mt Fuji in background. While our hotel has a closer view the buildings in the foreground somewhat spoiled the overall view. Well one can’t have everything!
We enjoyed our stay and will revisit Kawaguchiko but will choose a different hotel for a change. In terms of location Fuji Lake has little to offer compared to the Momiji Corridor area where there are more touristy attractions and restaurants. The nice part of Fuji Lake is the hotel is built right on the lake unlike others which are separated from the lake by the main road.

Enjoyed Lake view but less of Fuji San

ROOM:  We had a suite on the top floor with views of both Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi.  Beautiful room with a living area, foyer, bedroom and compact bathroom.  Beds are very comfortable.  Small balcony off living area.

BREAKFAST BUFFET:  Outstanding Asian food and Western food.  Dinning area provided scenic views of lake and Mt. Fuji.  Thai partner gave thumbs up.

LOCATION:  Within walking distance of train and bus station.  Bus stops located just outside of resort.  Easy walking in neighborhood area.

SHUTTLE:  Hotel provided transportation to & from train-bus station.

ENTERTAINMENT:  The hotels provides quest with kimonos to wear in the hotel.  An authentic Japanese Dinner (reservations required) available.  Also Spa and other pleasures.  Large Gift shop in hotel.

STAFF:  Friendly and helpful.  Spoke English very well.

OVERVIEW:  Outstanding resort, the very best, with nothing lacking!

Outstanding resort & suite

Location of the hotel was fabulous with an easy walk to shops, restaurants & the Ropeway. Beds were a bit too firm. Breakfast was great! Our room had Mt Fuji view and was a good size - but was expensive.

Room had views of Fuji & the Lake

This hotel is on a beautiful location right on  the lake with stunning views over the water and trees. Traditional hotel with lovely attention to detail. The food was great and the staff friendly. We had a private Onsen with views over Mr Fuji, spectacular! 

Lovely hotel

Some have commented that this hotel needs an update - yes, our room (the combined Japanese/ Western style) did need an update for sure - but the public areas are fine on the whole, and comfortable. Breakfast was fabulous in the 7th floor restaurant overlooking either Fuji on one side or Lake Kawaguchiko on the other. Excellent service, great coffee and enormous choice of breakfast options. Nice location and handy for the Red Line Sightseeing Bus.

The staff was kind. The views of Fuji and the lake were good, as were the breakfast buffet. HOWEVER, this place was expensive, dated, and with tiny rooms. All in all, I do not recommend as it was not worth the expense.

We splurged for 1 nite to stay in Mt Fuji area.  It was a beautiful clear, cold, windy when we arrived at 8:30am by bus from Shinjuku.  It was 10min walk from bus station.  Room wasn't ready until 3pm.  Carpet is worn, furnishing are old, bathroom was clean.  Bath/shower is separate from toilet.  No free water.  Heater was blasting when we went to our room on the 7th floor.  We had a great view of Mt Fuji.  They had a great variety of breakfast food.  However, when we checked out to pay both of my US credit cards that I've been using thru my years of travel didn't work.  I had US $$ but they don't exchange at the front desk.  They were kind enough to drive me to Lawson to use the ATM or a bank if needed.  Overall, it was a splurge but for it was too old of an hotel for me.  The red line tour bus stops in front.
