Stayed here in May 2018. It was a great place in a central location opposite a beautiful beach. The rooms were excellent, clean and accomodating. Roberto the owner was friendly and very helpful. Unfortunately we had not ordered breakfast but there was a bar across the road.

Beach Location

It’s across from the beach, the owners do their best to please. The place looks new, very clean. The stay includes a delicious breakfast, good variety and they try to get what you like if it’s not already offered.

Excellent location

Unfortunately we were unable to stay at Hotel Il Rifugio Di Hazel as our booking was cancelled a mere 3 days before our arrival. The staff at this hotel were very rude and did not assist us in finding alternative accommodation. Their lack of customer service and empathy left us in a tough situation, as we struggled to find accommodation a day before our arrival during peak summer season.

+ Apartment was good size, perfectly clean with sea view (beach is across the road -          perfect location)
+ Tasty breakfast, good coffee and lovely homemade yougurt!
+ Cheaper parking is 200 m from the apartment 
+ And big bonus is Roberto - charming and very kind owner.

The Refugio de Hazel is across the street from the beach, clean and well kept.
I do think and hope by the end of the season they have ironed out a few things.
The key situation is really silly. You have 3 keys. One for the outside gate, one for the house and one for your room. Though we appreciated the owner's conscientiousness as per security, when you left the room you had to put a key into a switch to turn off the electricity and if one person wanted to stay in for any reason, the other couldn't have a key to get back unless whoever stayed didn't want lights or air conditioning because they were welded together. We've stayed in other B & B's that had a key turn off electrics switch but it was separate and done on the honors system. We asked if it could be separated or we could get other keys and were told it was not possible. We are experienced travelers and mature adults and felt not to be trusted to do this was odd.
Breakfast was at very specific times and in a lovely setting but not always set up on time, very limited, too sweet and you had to ask for everything.
There was very little contact with Roberto, the owner,  although in the end he was very nice about printing out our boarding passes.
We had a car and were told that the only  reasonable parking would be on the street at 8 euros a day and we'd have to feed the meter everyday but when we went to the  pizza place on the beach and asked for change the owner told us about a lot a few blocks away that cost half of that and we could come and go as we pleased after paying 20 euros for 4 days in advance. 
This was our fourth trip Sicily and to San Vito Lo Capo so we really didn't need any help with restaurants or attractions but an offer or suggestion from our host would have ben nice.
 There were almost no toiletries, so BYO ,the internet wasn't great and it was a little noisy in the evening.
 The location does make up for most  of it's flaws but compared to all the other B & B's and residences we've stayed in where we've had warm, generous hosts who fed us like family, even walked us to restaurants and inquired about our needs during our stay, this experience was a little spartan and impersonal.
If being close to the beach is your number 1 priority this is an ok choice.
