There was absolutely nothing to fault with this hotel. We arrived when the street was blocked off by police for a religious festival. Staff arranged for us to briefly park outside to drop off luggage and then came with us while we drove around the block to the hotel’s free parking area. All the staff were very helpful, the whole place was spotlessly clean, breakfast was very good and the position right outside the castle entrance and on the beachfront was fabulous. You could not find a nicer place to stay.


Wonderful boutique hotel

Very nice, modern hotel overlooking Otranto Harbor and close to the old city.  We appreciated that the woman from reception went out of her way to help us with the car park.  A nice, basic breakfast.  It's an easy walk to many great restaurants in the old city, plus the public beach.
The only downside is that the hotel does not have much character.  However, if you like new and somewhat modern, then you will be happy.

Modern Hotel In a Convenient Location

A beautiful hotel in a wonderful location.
Staff were simply superb and nothing was too much trouble.

Our room was a little small, but it was very comfortable and fitted out to a high standard.
We had a small balcony and views to the old town.

We will be back!

Simply Superb

Beautifully and uniquely appointed hotel, recently upgraded to a very high standard. Located right beside the beach and the arch to the old town.  We had Junior suite with balcony facing the sea - with uniquely designed bathroom and very spacious shower.  Very good breakfast.  Would definitely return.

Perfectly located beautifully appointed boutique hotel

Our stay in Otranto was made special by our lodging at Hotel Bellavista. On the edge of the town's promenade, around the corner from the castle and right on the Bay with a beautiful view of the sea it couldn't have been more special. The Hotel happened to be freshly remodeled and they thought out the deign exquisitely. Don't forget to go up to the rooftop the view is enchanting!

Enchanting Otranto Viewed from Hotel Bellavista

Hotel Bellavista is in a wonderful location next to the sea and old town. The rooms are  lovely and newly refurbished, patios overlooking the park, sea and main pedestrian road of the town. Staff are excellent, helpful and warm and we loved our stay here. We took daily trips around Puglia and Salento and we were always delighted to come home to our spot in Otranto ! Highly recommend this hotel!!

excellent week in Otranto

Wonderful hotel in Otranto. Located close to the gate to the old city and close to the sea. Good rooms and beds. Newly renovated. Nice breakfast laid out. Fruit, eggs, tosti, croissant and cakes to order made fresh. Most importantly very friendly staff!

Good hotel close to sea and city center

We missed the last train back to Lecce (be warned, it is a steep climb uphill back to the station!) so needed to stay overnight. After a local cafe gave us a hotel recommendation we headed to Bellavista.

The reception was a little dated and dark, but staff seemed helpful, if not a little distant/business like? We asked for a room with two beds (and sea view if possible) but no breakfast as we'd be leaving very early the next day. We were given the key to room 23 and going upstairs was quite scary, due to the steep polished steps and timed lighting mechanism. The corridor decor and room doors were very retro, but we liked this feeling of being in 1960s Italy by the sea...

We were surprised and delighted with our room (very large with double and single bed). Everything was spotlessly clean with a stunning balcony overlooking the beautiful bay. Really peaceful night sleep and appreciated the 10 Euro discount offered as we were not staying for breakfast. 

We made our 7am train the next day, but were sad to leave the charming town.

Lovely overnight stay...

Good value for money! The hotel is nothing special but the view and location are everything. On walking distance from beach, centro storico and at the boulevard. Nice balcony with a great view. Good AC, ok WiFi, small fridge, fine bed and a spacious room. Bathroom was nothing special but clean and ok. Only minus to us was the noisyness in the morning due to a thin door and tiles in the hallways.

Cheap room, great view!

The overriding impression of the Hotel Bellavista is how disengaged the staff appear to be. 

The hotel is screaming for an update. The decor of the rooms and the main areas feel like they haven't been updated since at least the 1970s. While retro and shabby chic are currently trendy, neglect and disrepair are not. So much stuff looks like it has bodged to keep it going with a plethora of insulation tape and plastic ducting. 

We had room 24. While this has a wonderful view, the room is austere and lacks thought. While both a tv and fridge are provided, both of these are situated far from the power outlets as to warrant stretched power leads. The sole wardrobe smelled of mildew and had only hanging space. There are no drawer units at all. The pictures such as they were looked like a random selection from a junk shop with no thought of choice or display.

The bathroom is also dated, being dominated by a huge water heater. The shower is so small as to be unusable by anyone older than ten.

The hotel appears not to use anything approaching fabric softener as the towels are without doubt the hardest and roughest I've experienced for a long time.

The fixtures are badly maintained. Damage to some electrical points is remedied by a small bit of insulation tape.

On a positive note, the air conditioning works well and there appears to be a good level of cleanliness.

The main reception area resembles a second hand furniture shop. A couple of sofas are places very close to the entrance while the majority of the area is left in darkness and appears to discourage use by guests. There is a small bar kiosk, but the atmosphere doesn't make you want to stay. 

Breakfast is derisory. A selection of pastries and bread always with a few bits of sad looking ham and plastic cheese are not appetising. I've experienced some wonderful breakfasts in this style in Italy and in more basic places, but this is such lame effort. The experience of breakfast is depressing and the feeling is that it is offered grudgingly. 

There is no lift access between floors and the stairs are quite treacherous for those with less than 100% mobility.

It is frustrating that this hotel presents itself in such a poor way. It could be a wonderful venue considering its prime location and being a reasonably attractive building. The feeling is that making this place would be too much effort. Everyone working at the hotel seems to be going through the motions. This can be the only explanation for such lacklustre service and poor decor and maintenance. 

This is not a place I would recommend. It is certainly not a hotel in the usual sense of the word. It also costs more and offers less than some B and B places in the general area. This place needs to raise its game rather than just relying on its position to attract customers.
