B&B Il Picchio

Il Picchio apartments & B&B is situated above the village of Mergozzo with superb views down the valley to Lake Mergozzo and the distant mountains. The property is very well situated for visiting the Borromean islands, Villa Taranto and Lago d'Orta. A car is necessary for visiting the area and the directions provided by Maurizia and Gio are very good and lead you directly there. We stayed in an apartment which had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The kitchen area is small but functional with a small dining table and couch for relaxing if the weather doesn't permit outdoor dining. Another table with chairs is outside under the pergola ideal for al fresco dining in fine weather. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had all we needed. Linen is provided. A bonus was a washing machine for guests' use. There is WiFi for catching up on emails from home. Maurizia and Gio are happy to help with restaurant recommendations in Mergozzo. With children Giulia and Lorenzo they are a delightful young family offering warm hospitality. If you want peace and quiet away from the tourist hustle & bustle yet good access to the surrounding area and a delightful village and lake at Mergozzo look no further.
