The hotel was clean & we had no problems at all, the breakfasts were continental with bacon, scrambled & hard boiled eggs which could of be hotter on some days but the food was fine,hot & cold drinks available, evening meals were a buffet of salad etc & then you had a choice of 2 meals from a menu of 8 different dishes which you would choose the night before & then a choice of deserts, all I can say is the food in the evening was wonderful as were the staff in the restaurant, special shout out to Erma not sure if it’s a correct spelling. We went with Crystal & the ski hire shop was 5 mins away around the corner & we left are skis by lift 29 which cost only €30 for 6 days & was only a 5 min walk from the hotel which meant we didn’t have to walk in ski boots or wait for the buses, lots to do in Livigno & would recommend for skiing.

A wonderful week in Livigno

If I could just review Hotel Lanz on the friendliness of the staff it would be 5 star.  The restaurant waitresses in the evening were lovely, even though service took quite a long time on occasions.  

The location of the hotel is great, a 15 minute walk to the nearest ski lift.  

The whole hotel was clean, our room was clean and basic, (as expected with a 3 star) but sadly with light bulbs missing, plug sockets not working and cracked shower basin it all needed attention.  

The advertised Al Bui spa was not working at all and actually looks as if it hasn't been used in years, a shame when we had booked thinking we could the sauna/steam room after a days skiing, Crystal needs to remove that from their website.    

We had to complain to the management after a very rowdy group of fellow guests partied in their room between 2 and 5 am, even though some other guests were heard banging on the offenders doors asking them to be quiet.  This happened on two separate occasions.  

The continental breakfast is served from 7.30 - 9.30 but actually if you don't get there before 8.45 almost everything has gone, we ended up buying fruit to take to breakfast with us too.   The dinner service was fairly basic, and on occasions not cooked properly, chalky risotto is not what is usual in Italy!  We decided to eat out in Livigno on a couple of evenings for a break.  

The ski/boot room was small but adequate, with a 15 minute walk to the nearest bubble and to the Ski Link bus stop which links both ski areas in Livigno.   

When we had to check out early for our airport transfer we discovered that the hotel lift and front door would not be in service then.  This meant we had to carry our cases and boot bags down four flights of stairs and exit via the back/boot room door.  It is very hard to do quietly at 4 am, especially as we wanted to be considerate to the other guests having experienced lots of noise during our stay.

We will definitely return to Livigno as the ski area and town itself is fabulous but not to Hotel Lanz.

Noisy and No Spa

Amazing view of Livigno valley,you will catch the last sun of every day. The cleanest Rooms ever And The Best italian food ever eaten. Typical food from Valtellina are served with coordinated wines. You feel to be in a family.

Great Journey

Advantages: operated by family and you can feel the atmosphere inside. Quite well located for skiing (skibus in front of the hotel + walking distance to nearest routes). Nice views in some rooms.
Disadvantages: has very little in common with European 3-star standard. Small continental breakfast (we had to buy extra food), dinner OK but always served over 2 hours. Almost everything paid extra (including tap water!). Jacuzzi didn't work. Noisy rooms.
Overall, good when you go skiing and have no requirements such as sauna, jacuzzi or great dining experience.

One of those hotels you'll forget quickly.

I stayed in Hotel Lanz for 5 nights during a recent ski trip. The resort is lovely and the hotel is ideally located, however, we were not impressed by the hotel. We had several issues regarding our room.The heating was broken and the radiation did not work! The owner of the hotel came to the room three times to bleed the radiator and it only worked on the final night. Normally I would never complain but after a day of skiing in freezing conditions we grew to dread going home to the cold room. It was also a constant pain having to tell them the problem time after time and have nothing done about it. In addition to this, the shower was also only lukewarm and nothing was done to improve the shower conditions. The room was also very small, described as a 3 bed it was simple two singles pushed together and a pull out chair. If you like to be warm after a day of skiing, or in general and need basic space, I would not recommend Hotel Lanz, however, the staff were all very friendly and the hotel itself was spotless.

Great location but poor hotel! Do not recommend!

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights with my partner and the hotel was lovely.  Nothing over the top but everything that you need while staying in beautiful livigno.  It is extremely cheap as well for what you get.  They spoke little english on the front desk but they were very friendly and tried to help with recommendations where they could. Breakfast at the hotel was also quite good.  Highly recommeded if you are looking for cheap but good accomodation.
