the place is a little run down. the room had very little headroom. even at 5.9 i had to bend down half the time. the bathroom was very dirty and the drain is half blocked in the shower. the bed had dirty sheets from a previous guest. 
I had to go hunting for new sheets and towel ( i was tired so i didn't make a fuss. it looked as though it wouldn't have helped much. it is a sad and miserable place.

off putting

I was expecting low budget accommodation but tbh it was too low for me. There was a human hair on my sheets which made me feel they hadn't been washed properly and I could see stains on the mattress through the sheets. I didn't want to look under the pillow case. There were tiny ants coming out the wall and the floor of my room hadn't been cleaned. There was a middle-aged man who had his room door open the whole time and it seemed like he lived there and he was talking with people on the landing outside my room the whole time and it made me feel uncomfortable. Plus sides: The guys at reception were super nice, and there was a nice outdoor area. The location was great, super close to all the sites. Wifi worked well.

V low budget

I booked and *paid* for one night, through a third party site, one of the biggest worldwide. As I arrived, a single woman after dark, someone extremely rude named Bashar who was at the reception (probably owner, he refused to confirm) REFUSED to acknowledge the reservation and payment, demanding that I cancel with the site, and pay directly to him. Never in my life have I heard of such a thing!
Probably not wanting to pay the due fee to the site, he screamed at me to call my credit card company, cancel the deal and pay him directly. He told me that every now and then when a guest arrives with a paid order through the site, he commands her/him to call their credit card company and cancel. Then he demands the money on the spot.
Shocked, I first tried to do it, because he was very unpleasant and even a bit scary. But since it was late evening, obviously there was no customer service at the credit card company. So not wanting to be ripped off by him (everything was already paid!), I told him it was not legit. He responded in such rudeness, that I have never seen anywhere in my life.  At that point I contacted the 24-hour service by the Haifa municiplaity. They told me that his behavior was criminal and that I should contact the police. 
As a matter of fact, I turned to a policeman who happened to be on the street, and he - also disgusted by this incident - advised me to file a report at the nearest police station.
Needless to say, I didn't stay there and took a train back to Jerusalem. Luckily I'm a local (Israeli). Must be even a worse experience for foreigners, as this - by his own telling - his USUAL practice.
Do yourselves a favor, just stay away from this horrible place and from Bashar who runs it very shamefully!

Keep away! Worst place ever!!!

As a single traveler from Jerusalem, I packed very light (small backpack) and came for the weekend (Jun 2020). This place met all my needs because all I really needed was a bed for the night. 
I booked a single bed in a six-person mixed dorm room. Lucky for me (and thanks to Covid, maybe) there was only one other person using that room over the weekend, so it worked out well, that it ended up being like a private room.

BEST factor: location/convenience/price. Next to a small mall, a boulevard of restaurants, not far from port, 7 min walk to Bahai Gardens (currently closed), metronit (fast bus, comes every 5min), beach (15m bus ride away), train station, etc. I enjoyed walking around this area very much, both during day and night. You feel safe and surrounded by life all around and the scenery everywhere you look is beautiful. Also close to neighborhoods worth visiting like Wadi Nisnas (which has residents from all religions living side by side and great bread bakery). Theres also a flea market nearby (open til 14:00, I think). 
The price matches the expectation, and is worth it. 

WORST factor: bathroom/showers. The shared bathroom leaves much to be desired. Its relatively clean but doesnt look it, the shower stalls are barren, with no room to place your stuff save some hooks, doors dont close. The one advantage was that there are windows in each stall so its very airy and I enjoyed the ocean breeze coming in. 

There are some enjoyable amenities like A/C in the rooms, blankets/pillows/sheets (FYI, no towels), shared kitchen & living room area with microwave, sink, PC, tv, couches, some benches outside. 

The staff was great! I made friends with Bashar, the owner, and Dudi who worked the reception desk. Both were kind and friendly, told me exactly where I can go for cheaper eats (like the student area down Yaffo or Hatzmaut), gave me a map and showed me all the spots I needed to visit. In no time at all, I was whizzing around the city on my own (it was my first time there). 

Other things to note: towels not provided, nowhere to hang or store clothing, no safe, they did let me leave my bag by the reception when I came earlier than check-in hour, no option for food/breakfast (including no coffee). If you set your expectation to match the price, and come with a mind to enjoy the Experience of the City, this will be another way to enhance your stay - consider the money saved on lodgings can go towards other travel experiences like food, sites, beer :).

Super Budget Friendly

WARNING!!!!!!  dont book this hostel.   i had a prepaid booking but the check clerk insisted on paying again. 10 times i sayed is prepaid. 10 seconds after the payment on site, the employee found that it had been paid in advance. I've been running for my money for 7 weeks now.  something called criminal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DONT BOOK THERE

I had a single room. The mattress was on a wooden pallet on the floor. There was a/c and heat, though I didn’t need either. I shared a convenient, clean bathroom. The room was small but had everything I needed. The place isn’t soundproof, but the ambient noise was not a problem. There were comfortable shared spaces. The reception was helpful. The hotel/hostel was down the street from the Baha’i Garden and near all kinds of food and drink. The bus stop to all parts of Haifa was 5 minutes away. I’d stay again.

Near Everything in the German Colony

Backpacker's place. Very basic dorms. Really friendly staff. Great location.

My room was near the toilet, so l heard people coming in, singing stupid songs in the shower and all other sounds. The open end of one of the water pipes was right in my room, by the mattress (no bed, just mattress on the floor), there was terrible sound when they flushed.
I am not tall, but l could not stand near the sleeping place, only sit.
There was no wardrobe or at least place on the wall to put the clothes, only bar stool and small table.
There was very cold.
Bed linen and blankets were dirty.
There was a window between the room and the corridor, l turned the light off, but someone turned the light on few times each night and it was impossible to sleep.
I am sure the house was not built for living. Sleeping between water pipes is for homeless desperate people, not for tourists who pay money for that.

The building is not suitable for living

 I was in Haifa at the Baha'i International Convention  in April /May last year  It was good and clean and close to all the best Restaurants and cafes   with a Supermarket across the road  and the Shrine on the Bad, in full view as one walked up  the main Road to the Baha'i gardens 

Hreendy and very convinent

I didn't have any problems with them  from February 15 to 17 2019 .It was convenient in the german colony district.I met some of their guests and it was good. On the other hand, there was a minor problem since nobody was at the front desk in the morning of Feb 16.Some of the guests waited and I think a walk in guest decided to leave.Nevertheless,I was fine with my stay there and will comeback next time in my future day offs.
