Warini Bungalows was like a literal breath of fresh air after staying at another more expensive but still budget option in Ubud. Room was perfect and very clean, in a traditional style Balinese building. It was like staying in a beautiful temple and very peaceful yet close to everything. The only negative was very little water came out of the shower, but for the fresh clean room that was easy to put up with. Electric PowerPoint and wifi worked well. Highly recommend staying here for comfort and great value.

A breath of fresh air

Despite the title, it is a simple and very convenient stay located in a beautiful old town area just at the back of the most lively street - jl Janoman - and very close to the Yoga Barn, in case you are interested in yoga. The location is majestic and built in traditional style: you will experience the feeling of being in a temple! On the other hand, It can be a little thrilling because of this: dark at night, with a loot of sculptures of animals and with a very very noisy lake. It is in fact packed with big fishes that jump up and down at night.... that’s the thrill. 
The room is very simple, maybe a little old, but hot water and fan work well. 

Magic and thrilling

Somewhat difficult to find this homestay as its off a back alley off the Main Street. But worth finding because for a reasonable price (170,000/ night) we got a whole temple to ourselves.
Beautiful decorations in the homestay and fish ponds all over. Room was newly decorated. Bed was big and comfy enough. Bathroom newly renovated and water worked fine. Wifi throughout. 
Got breakfast in the morning which was an interesting grilled banana sandwich and coffee and fruit. 


Sleep in a temple for dollars a night 

the place is really nice, you feel like being in a small temple.
the price is ok (booking takes 20%, so you can negociate at 155.000, and if it's low season could be better : i had it for 130.000).
the owner is lovely... at the beginning, and she will still be lovely if you make the tours she offers. she has a commission to send you to her friends. you can easily find tours to mt batur, cooking class, rafting, cycling, or a driver, a moto bike, in ubud, for a better price.
rent a moto bike and do it yourself (except batur, you need a guide).
same for laundry, check prices elsewhere.
call an uber if you need to go somewhere. 

so : the place is beautiful, price is good, location is ok, bathroom is just ok, bed is good, but don't expect too much from the owner.
breakfast is not enough : fruits are delicious, but it's not enough for a long day in the rice fields
