This is a place for people who love simplicity, naturalness, cultural exploration, peace, the ocean.

Place -where you want to come back

If u only do Kuta and don't go to West Bali you are missing out big time.
No glitz, no glamour, no 5 Star - hooray for authentic real Bali provincial and village life, it's not pristine nor "perfect", and that's the point 
Kirra's accomm is high quality, modern and always clean. If u can resist not watching every sun set over the Indian Ocean, across the rice paddy fields with a cold Bintang in-hand you're a better man than me.
Local people are SO friendly without the endless souvenir hassles on Kuta beach.
Local authentic Balinese home style meals are plentiful - and delivered - for usually $2.50 a dish.
Or there's a 5 Star resort with restaurant 500 metres up the beach, 500 metres in the other direction is a way cool modern, Western, bar with sports TV's, overlooking the famed Medewi left-hander.
Turtle hatchery, the best snorkelling on the island, forest walks and Hindu temples within 30mins.
Host Chris can match u up with local guides, fishermen, you name it.
Honestly, forget Kuta, do yourself and go West Bali

The best damned authentic Balinese experience

The owners Chris and Ibu V have got a fantastic life and beach house set up in Medewi/Pulukan.
Upon arriving you are warmly greeted and helped with your bags and shown the beautiful view of the ocean overlooking the rice paddies, there are hoards of local kids flying kites in the rice fields and the locals are super friendly.  
You can check all the breaks from the deck.
If you are a surfer like me, you have direct access via the rice paddies to a couple of nice A frame beach breaks right in front of the hotel that are deserted, except maybe for Chris that may join you and is a very good surfer. 
The point break of Medewi is within walking distance or take the car/bike for a short drive down the road.  On the point you will need to buy one of the the shirts from the boys on the point, under a "non profit organisation!".  But that's only 200k and then the local boys will let you park where you want and let you have some waves.
Chris and his team know some surf guides if you want to organise one.
There are a handful of local warungs within walking distance that serve very good and very cheap local food, we are talking about 25k nasi goreng special.  
There is a local orphanage just behind the beach house that Chris and V help out and he gives the kids musical lessons!  He is an extremely talented musician and can play piano, guitar, saxophone and more!  
Oh man, can V cook!   One night I had the pleasure of having a few beers and a BBQ with Chris and V and a couple of other guests that were checking out after staying there for several weeks.   One of the staff Pak Ahmad got some local fish and the food was delicious!

The rooms are simple, very cheap and comfortable.   The value for money is outstanding!  There is A.C. and bedding with towels.  A nice hammock.  Water to drink, a shower for after surf, good wifi, warm water.  It's not a 5 star hotel, but you don't get this kind of personal interaction and relationships in a 5 star hotel.  You are coming and staying at Chris and V's house and you end up making good friends.  One downside is that the keys for the rooms do not come on a key ring.  So I stuck it on my keys and left taking their key, will have to go back again!

A taste of how Bali used to be

My partner and I stayed here for 4 days. It is easily a highlight of our trip. Perfect location for surfing Medewi.

Our trip began after a last min booking but unfortunately due to the poor internet we were using we had no idea our booking had not gone through! We rocked up in the middle of a thunderstorm and pouring rain, luckily Vierra and Chris were home they ran out with their umbrellas and helped us straight into a free room. Then they insisted that we relaxed and had dinner with them. Honesty that was the best chicken curry I have ever had the pleasure of eating! Words cannot do it justice, it was a taste sensation. The room we stayed in was large and the bed was comfortable. It was walking distance to the beach out the front and a short walk to Medewi point. The thing that separates this accommodation is not only the host  (if you are lucky enough to run into them!) but the upper verandah area. It is perfect for a quick morning surf check, an afternoon beverage or just to relax with a book or watch a movie. Just what you need on a holiday! If you want to stay somewhere with a pool, don’t stress for $2 you can go to Medewi point and use the pool at the hotel there, they also have yummy local food (and others if you desire) for a very good price.

The only thing I would change is how long we stayed, I could easily do a week or two here.

If you are looking for a relaxing surf trip or just to get away from the crazy kuta holiday spots this is it.

Highly recommend!

Kirra's Beach House is a simple 3 star losmen / bungalow style accommodation. It's located 200m off the highway to Java, on a rise 200m from the black sandy beach breaks and about 600m from the long and easy Medewi Point left hander. Some of the buildings are new while others are around 5 yrs old. When I visited there were 5 individual double bed rooms, most have their own shower and toilet. Rooms were clean, spacious with air con.
There's a common kitchen area at the rear of the block and an observation deck at the front with a beautiful outlook across rice fields to the ocean. 
One of the Aussie owners, Chris, and partner Vija (Veeya), were also there. They were very welcoming, engaging and helpful with tips on the local highlights, eateries and arranging anything we might have needed. Their commitment to supporting the local community was refreshing. Chris plays a mean guitar too! A pleasure to get to know. 
We were there for 5 nights. They were mid-upgrading the water system so there were a couple of waterless days for one of the rooms. 
Gardens are again simple and typically lush, as are the surroundings.
Location for me was excellent, with surfing in mind. Close, but not in the middle of everything, giving my son, his surfing friend and I the perfect relaxed, quiet surf getaway. Walk to the beach. The point surf would be busy but there were beach breaks virtually empty. Swell every day.
No traffic buzz at the house. Drivers, taxi, scooters were all available for hire at reasonable rates.

Classic Rice Paddys and Surf Bali Experience

You have everything you need at Kirras Beach House, and even more ! The rooms were really comfortable and big, with very cozy beds. In the garden there is a nice relaxing area and a open garden kitchen. We spent a really nice time with Chris, the guest holder, a very relaxed Australian surfer man who knows the area of Medewi very well.

Amazing Paradise

A serene place with spacious rooms and a lovely outside area with a large open kitchen. The best part of it is the deck overlooking the rice paddies all the way to the beach. It is a nice 1 km walk along the beach to Medewi village and the main surf break. The manager Dewa arranged my airport pick up and was very helpful and friendly.
