Lovely place, great location. The executive room was top quality beautifully presented and maintained. The manager Radhakrishnan was very professional and dedicated to assuring our stay was great. Great value for money in a lovely town. We will be going back and thanks to all at the Palace.

Tour of Kerala

We spent nearly a week here @ the Taj Gateway Varkala and it never ceases to amaze me on how the Taj service manages to outdo itself time and time again! We are regulars @ Taj properties worldwide and in India so we were having mixed thoughts when we decided to opt for the Taj Varkala vs the more famous Taj Kovalam for our Kerala holiday. Needless to say, we couldn’t have asked for more! The 5-star Omotenashi (personalised) attention love and care rendered by their staff to my infant my wife and myself was above excellence!

The staff looked after us like family and we had a sea + pool/garden facing room that had a divine view of the ocean as we woke up and spent the day!

They were quick to arrange for accommodation to take us to Lord Sri Anantha Padmanabha swamy temple to seek the Lord’s blessings (my past visit there was when I was beginning my career back in 1999 before the temple treasures were declared to public and it became so famous!) I used to go there every weekend in 99 in Panche Shalya and it amazed me to see how much the Temple has changed!

The hotel staff were quick to arrange this plus a trip to the backwaters of Kerala @ Monroe Island instead of the more frequented and now dirty and crowded route of Alepi to Kollam 8-hour ride (that I had done back in 99). We did a houseboat and the views were breathtaking!

The ambience of the Varkala North beach is amazing (it resembles Goa in every way and the beach can be seen off cliffs and a very Mediterranean style ambience).

They also arranged for transport to take us to the Kappil beach which is a sight to behold with the Arabian Sea on the West and the Edava Narayana lake on the East (it reminded me of Marvanthe Kundapura, NH 17 Karnataka)!

They also arranged for personal visit to the other 1000’s of year old temple next to the Taj Varkala called Lord Sri Janardhana swamy temple.

All in all the Taj Gateway outdid our other stays @ Taj Heritage hotel, Mumbai and the Taj West End Bengaluru! We will visit them again. Special mention to Mr Shobhit Kaushal, General Manager, Khalid the front desk supervisor, Adithya for recommending Monroe island backwater cruise, the Chef for taking of us like home, the lovely and courteous staff and the attendants and Mr Murali and Mr Shridhar who drove us around the meandering Kerala roads safely! Thank you folks; you rock and for making our Kerala trip memorable and special!
