I was disappointed with the condition of the property.  It seemed quite run down. There was no WiFi access in the bedrooms,  only the reception.  Position next to the sea was excellent.

Property seems to be very old and rooms had smell problem. The garden view rooms are facing each other and you can see group of people partying in front of the room/walkway. Our room was facing the parking area. The area was not maintained very well. You can see pile of garbage near rooms. The area near the entry gate seems to be for garbage and it stinks. The breakfast was okay but other time food service was horrible. The beach is the best part of the stay as you have access to the beach from property. You can only stand near the water and wait for waves to come, but you can enjoy the view. Overall not worth the price. It is a good location but bad service and rooms condition.

Beach is the only good part.

We booked for a premium sea front room. When we checked in, they put in a regular room with no windows. When we asked why, the hotel staff said all rooms are like that. Later we found the blankets were torn, stains on pillow cases, room dirty, and stains on toilet seat. When we argued with the hotel staff that this is not the room we paid for and asked to change the room, and after lots of back and forth, they switched to a true premium sea front room. That room also had issues with stains on pillow cases, torn blankets, and room dirty. The hotel staff could   take care of all these when we paid tips. Only positive thing in our stay is excellent food and a great location with direct access to beach, This place has excellent potential to become a prime hotel if the cleanliness can be taken care of. I took pictures as a proof of my comments if someone wants to see.

Located at Mahabalipuram, a good long drive to reach the resort. But so many disadvantages of booking rooms here, here is a glance. 

Pros: 

Location, sea and pool view rooms. Thats all...

Cons:

Rooms pretty old and not maintained well at all. Patchy paint and distemper has come off at many places in the room.

Not spacious for 3 people. Once the extra bed was put, barely able to walk.

Extra bed was provided but were told no pillows , there are 4 pillows on the bed, adjust in that. They are soft pillows, one person needs 2. The north indian guy who got the bed was very rude.

Toilet gun was on the left hand side, I do not know how one is supposed to use it to wash.

Toilet seat very small, very uncomfortable to sit on it.

Mould in a lot of places. 

No hot water from both pipes.

2 mini soaps and 1 small shampoo was not sufficient for 3 ppl. 

Other 7K rupee rooms provide tooth brush, tooth paste, dental kit, and a comb.

Room service was pretty bad - 
we asked for ice - they said its 100 Rs, but came 15 mins after the call.
we said the resort has power, only our room there is no electricity - they did not bother for 30 mins, after our second call, it was back on in another 10 mins. It it chennai, not kodaikanal to manage without fan or AC. God.
we asked for towels - came after 45 mins.

Table Tennis table was partially broken, net was disoriented, no TT ball. 

Since resort has around 70 rooms, one or the other major gang takes up the volleyball, badminton and cricket apparatus so we are just left with nothing. 

Pool is quite small more than 1 large gang and it gets really crowded inside, need to wait for long duration so that its almost less crowded.

Beach was almost accessible always, however, the resort had taken money for a couple photoshoot, so beach was off limits after 6:30 pm so that we wont interrupt their shoot.

On weekends, pretty much 90% of the rooms get booked, so be prepared to see a lot of people despite getting away from the city crowd.

No indication/information regarding what are all included as complimentary breakfast - ex. dosas and ommelettes. 
We only knew after a couple ordered it and were told its free of cost. 

Food was not great but not bad too. 

Lizards inside and outside the room, no repellants kept.

No comfortable chairs in the room to sit, i sat in a wooden back chair and got back pain.

Choose some other resort in this price range

The resort has good amenities like swimming pool, direct access to beach, etc. The staff takes good care of the facilities.

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the deluxe rooms and had a mixed bag of experience. 
Good things first:
- Staff is excellent. everyone was friendly, courteous and did their best to ensure our comfort inspite of inherent problems. Checkin and checkout were very smooth
- Location is fantastic. Rooms are in close proximity to a clean beach. Staff was ensuring beach was not littered 
- Breakfast spread was very good and tasty

Now to Not-so Good things:
- In 3 days we called Plumber, electrician and house keeping multiple times for varied problems like non working toilets, clogged drains, burned out bulbs etc. 
- The room started stinking of sewage suddenly one night. it was so bad we had to stand outside till some one came and just sprayed room freshener. we somehow passed the night with AC on since it was our last night.
- NO INTERNET connectivity in rooms. Only reception has internet. Bathroom lacked basic things like soap holder in shower, tooth brush holders in washbasin and face towels.  No teacoffee material, they just gave open teabags and sugar sachets when we asked. No spoons or stirrers as well.
- Beach properties need to consider facilities like a hair dryer, laundry bags,  or some drying surfaces. Considering the price range these were minimal expected but not available.
- Food was average, a bit overpriced as norm in resorts. Buffet is Very overpriced. we get a feeling they care more about single day guests than checked in guests and heard the same complaints from others also. There is no food anywhere nearby so the limited menu gets boring within 2 days.
- TV had only 200+ tamil channels for 2 days (even DD India or DD news was unavailable). After 2 days suddenly every channel got enabled. Not sure to complain or rejoice
- All room's windows face the road. so either curtains need to be closed always (missing natural sunlight) or face embarrassing situations.  Lighting in room is so low couldn't read anything. Unless you want to read outside in heat, don't plan a vaction with a book.

Good location, still not worth the cost

Fantastic resort, friendly staff, very safe place and extraordinary lunch.  Every item we ordered stood out in a different style, we were a group of 10 and thoroughly enjoyed our day outing in golden sun resort. I would give the entire crew a 10/10…. And their lunch exceeded the expectations. Awsome is what I would say. Will visit again , this will be in my to do list each year. Keep up the great work golden sun. 

Day outing 

The room need lot of improvement. The door locks need to be upgraded. The AC never worked. The bathroom was built in 1980’s and no hot water. There was only two towels and no shampoo or conditioner. The restaurant had a lot of flies and had a smell. We sat outside because the scenery was better. They never told you cannot go to beach after 6 PM which is a big disappointment. 

Will never go back!

The location of the resort is great on the ECR, on the beach that connects shore temple. The shore temple is 3 km approx, takes 45 min walk on the sea shore from the hotel to reach shore temple. Popular shacks like Bob Marley's cafe is couple of kms via the beach

The checkin experience was good and swift.
Rooms are good but not worth the 6k price tag for their basic room (booked 2 * luxury room for 6k per room) which are built like independent row houses, bathrooms are poor.
Food is below par to average, tried lunch dinner and breakfast. No live breakfast counter on Sunday Morning
The dinning area and swiming pool overlooks the beach. It's a tiny swimming pool. They have a tin shed like a varanda as a sit out overlooking the beach. The sit outs are full of cheap plastic chairs and poor. The dinning area although it overlooks the beach doesnt have a good vibe. There is no proper sitout arrangement to relax on the beach side
The checkout on the front desk was smooth. However one of their white shirt senior employees took out my room keys and we had spent good 30 mins looking for our keys along with their service staff before checkout :(

Overall, average experience. Take this resort if u get a cheap price deal otherwise avoid
Rated it 2, coz for the price there is nothing really to feel good about other than beach location of the resort

Average resort, average food, average vibes, very good beach location and good access to other places in the town
