This hotel is top most likeable hotel in Agra, I mainly love it. Spent 4 days in it with our tour and we enjoyed a lot, mainly we like the kind manger who treated us very well and we felt that we were in home. Hotel rooms were too beautiful and food was tastier one. Awesome hotel.

We arrived in the morning and saw a dirty non-AC room, and agreed to a price if they cleaned the room and changed the sheets.  As were filling out our inforation I asked to see if the room was being cleaned.  It wasn't and they showed us a different room which was clean and had an AC in it.  They said that we could have that room for an additional 200 rupees, and when we asked for a lower price they replied it was that price because of the AC.  We agree to the AC room and after a few hours they turned off the AC. When I went to inquire why they had done this their reason was that we hadn't paid for the AC room which would be 400 more (600 more than the original room).  They insisted that they had told us this when were checking in, which they had not. They did eventually agree to turn the AC back on, after we told them we felt deceived, and that they would turn it off while we weren't in the room. Additionally we got chai which the menu said was 10, but they insisted was 20 because they gave it to us in a "big" cup. We were okay to spend the extra 10 rupees but felt frustrated that the price (like the room) wasn't transparently stated.

Misleading about pricing

This is the most horrible hotel I stayed only for one night. I booked 5 nights. I arrived a the hotel at 10.00 pm on a hot and dusty evening. 
The lobby was dark with a one bulb dimly glowing besides the sleepy receptionist. All I could see was his face. 
I tapped on the high, wooden counter and asked the receptionist, "Is this Maharani Residency Hotel?" 
" Yes, Sir."
" Are you opened for business?"
" Yes, Sir. Do you have a reservation?" He asked. 
"Yes. Or else I would have been here. I have a reservation for 5 nights but I will only stay 1 night."
As I was about doing the paperwork to check-in, my driver beaconed to me that this hotel may not be the right for us. After a short exchanged in Hindi language with receptionist, the reconfirmed we will stay for only one night as we need to rush back to Delhi early morning.

The stench of cigarette smoke fill the lobby. I could hardly breathe. The keys were the most modern with micro chips in contrast the 18th Century not even fit for camel herders. Gupta, my driver sat all night without any shower. The faucet was broken and a complimentary water bucket placed in the bathroom.
I sat on the bed until 4.00 when we decided to check out. 
Outside of the Maha rani was a small tea shop serving night richshawallas. The owner allowed to use his bathroom to wash. He served us milk tea and fried vadas. He recommended the Jaypee Resort Hotel and remarked to us, "The Maharahni hotel is lousy." And, truly, lousy it is.
