Choices of room too limited no double room available.

The creepy old vibes was cool. I liked the vintage feel.

This place was great for our 4 person group! Great amenities, location was right on the coast, such a fun stay!

The place itself its fine, rooms are small but clean, fully equiped kitchen, friendly hosts, BUT the only showers are downstairs next to the entrance, where all the cold wind enters. This may not be a problem if you are visiting on the summer, but I stayed on December and the weather was -10° celsius, the shower also gets flooded, and its really hard to get dress without getting all your clothes wet.

Cold shower

This was a nice place to stay for a hostel. We had our own room but shared a bathroom/shower/kitchen. The kitchen had an oven, microwave, hot plate, fridge, and pots, pans, silverware, and dishes. There is a beautiful view of the ocean from the deck. See my photo. We ate dinner out there while watching the sunset. If you stay here you also can visit the ghost museum. The rooms were small but clean. We enjoyed our stay.

Basic but pleasant stay

Staff is very friendly. The room was a little bit small but it was ok. The view was great.

I have mentioned the Art Hostel in my review of the top langoustine restaurant Fjorubordid, just across the car park.
Owing to European Union restrictions on fishing quotas and the like, several coastal villages we have visited have gone into decline, unable to support themselves without their main source of employment and livelihood.
The Art Hostel was a fish processing factory until the EU closed down the industry. A clever benefactor took it over to create a haven for artists, studio for works and display.
They also offer accommodation from a 14 bed dormitory - cheap! - to a fully furnished flat, each stage at its relevant price.
The Art Hostel is very clean and well laid out. The kitchenette has stocks of tea and coffee, including breakfast cereals and milk. The hostel must cater events as well as the eating area can seat about 100 and there are lots of crockery, cups and the like to support such events.
You should book this one as the administration is light.
Pairing this accommodation with the top class restaurant next door is brilliant, even on a dark and stormy night!
Not since school have I seen, though, showers with push taps that you have to keep pushing to get a decent clean.
We were in a double room, but the flat available had private facilities, so you might want to price that.

To dine and to dry

I recently stayed at this hostel which was a really good experience. The room, kitchen and bathrooms were very clean and tidy. I stayed in the dorm room which had 14 beds, but most of the time I was the only person in it.

The village itself is nice and quiet, with Selfoss not far away. There is a bus service too, although understandably it isn't hugely frequent (or at all on Sundays). 

This is a good hostel for the price, it could perhaps be improved by adding hooks (for towels etc) and some locker facilities. Overall a good stay and would recommend.

Good place to stay

We stayed here as a family of four adults and a kid. They were very kind to upgrade us to a larger room that was available on our dates! The room was really spacious and had a kitchenette. Do note that the toilets and bathrooms are shared. But this wasn't a big problem and also they are kept clean. I would recommend this to all budget travelers. It is 15 minutes away from Selfoss where you can find all the popular shops.
