We stumbled upon this place after we visited the LAVA museum.  Local food, must have Lamb soup- the best we have had in all Iceland.  They have clean restrooms too - that tells me about how they value their property.  The food was actually reasonably priced and this place is staffed with art students who live there and work in a community.  Nicholas from Andalucía, Spain was just one of them.  An international group of young people who love art and have a knack for good service.   I also had their fish stew which was balanced.  We came here a few times because the food was so good.   It is soup and food for the soul.

Hearty food, supporting the arts !

Eldsto Art Cafe Guesthouse was an excellent introduction to Icelandic hospitality.  The location is very easy to find along the South coast.  Convenient for getting to the waterfalls and other sights. We were greeted in the café and shown upstairs to the guesthouse. There are some steep stairs to climb.  Since it was midweek in May we had the place to ourselves.  our room was very clean and the shared bathroom (which we did not have to share!) was roomy and clean.  The Kitchen we used only in the morning to toast bread, fix our cereal and coffee.  It was perfect.   We had a delicious dinner in the cafe one night. 
The biggest praise I have is how responsive the owner was AFTER we left.  A pair of our glasses were left on the kitchen table. They quickly confirmed they were there and we made arrangements to be mailed to the US.  What a relief.  I can't thank them enough for being so nice and going out of their way to return them to us.  I would definitely recommend staying here.

Great location, Clean and wonderful service

We had a burger and fish & chips and they were both amazing! The best we’ve had! It was clear that the fish and burger were very fresh! The atmosphere is cool and the service was great! We would return again! And it’s very close to the Solfjoss waterfall! 

Great place! 

The location is great for visiting South Iceland and is right on the main road. There is a Kronen grocery shop next door. The rooms are comfortable and the shared bathrooms are very clean. Breakfast is included and is quite adequate with bread, cereal and fruits. The kitchen could have been better equipped with a stove but this is a lovely and convenient place to stay.

Convenient location

This is nice stop after Seljalandsfoss, it is pretty close from the waterfall.
We visited the waterfall in the evening, if you are visiting in the morning this place would still be good option since its 15-20 min drive.
There is a Gas station just opposite to the hotel and a Krónan store next.

This was a bit of a disappointment. According to the information we had, there would be a kitchen available. So we bought a whole lot of ingredients to prepare some spaghetti. When we arrived, there was only a fridge and a microwave. There was no oven or stove. This was a bit inconvenient for us. Luckily there is a supermarket next door, so we bought ourselves a microwave dinner instead, which was of course not as appealing as some homemade spaghetti... 
The room was rather small. The shared bathroom was clean and convenient.
The location however was really great. We stayed two nights and could see a whole lot of the south departing from this Guesthouse.
