Villa Mary Elen

Themis, the owner, is a wonderful friendly man who  instantly made us feel very welcome.
Our room was on the second floor with fantastic views of the ocean. Clean, light and airy rooms which are cleaned daily. 
Pollonia beach and restaurants are all within walking distance too. 

Our stay at Mary Allen was very good, the room was basic but very clean. Pollonia Beach was a great location to stay. My suggestion would be to stay on the east side of the building so you get the morning sun as we got the afternoon sun and it was too hot to sit outside in the afternoon. The owner was very accommodating and helped us hire a car and let us stay a little longer on the last day as we had a late flight.

Excellent location at the end of the island. Really quiet and peaceful with fanstastic views all around. It was very clean and well kept, but the bathroom is slightly small. Also has a great personal touch. 

Pollonia is beautiful with the rockscapes and some great places to eat. 

The breakfast was the only thing that disappointed.  It was wonderful that breakfast was served on the little balcony overlooking the sea. Each tray was painfully hauled up by the captain but went cold by the time it was served.  What a setting for a meal first thing in the day. Unfortunately the meal itself was quite a letdown. Juice was out of a box, the bread dry as powder, the cheese sandwiches cold as ice and the coffee cold and terrible. Might be better to not take that option or if they could serve it with a facility to keep it warm would be better. 
But that was the only minor complaint - if one can call it that. The rest was great. 

Our stay at Mary Ellen is a lasting memory for the comfort the location and the view and the amazing swims in the rock pools nearby . This is well run relaxed and very pleasant place to stay and we hope to go back in 2019 . The Island of Milos is amazing and has many relaxed places to visit for dining and Greek island life ..

All you need to do is to step out of your room and you get the perfect spot for both sunrise and sunset. Situated in the end bit of Pollonia, slightly elevated cliff with magnificent scenery. Kimolos the neighbouring island is almost within reach. The beach of Pollonia was only 2 minute walk from the place and so as the town. 

The room was lovely and clean. Themis the owner was very helpful and polite. He helped us with hiring a car last minute, managed to get it for a good price. Not to mention he gave us a bottle of wine when we arrived as it was my girlfriend's birthday.

Beautifull position in Pollonia, surrender by the sea. The room is very very clean and bright. The bathroom has a big shower... the only problem is the window that look into the stairs of the hotel! We also have a beautiful balcony with sea view, but here there’s the window of the other room’s bathroom.

The staff was very kind with our check out, because they leave us the room until the evening!! 

The worst thing that’s happen has been our check in... our boat was in delayed.. so we wrote at the hotel to inform them... when we arrived at Mary Ellen, Themis, the manager, didn’t make a warm welcome. He has been rude  and he yalled us because he never seen our message about ferrie’s delayed. 
It was the worst welcome in an hotel of our life!!!


This is our third stay at Villa Mary Elen so we knew what to expect, and were very happy to stay again. We stayed in 2005, in 2017 and again last month.

This time we had a ground floor room with a great view looking out west over the sea. The location on a headland with 270 degree sea views is really very good right on the channel between Milos and Kimolos. All rooms will have a view.

The room is clean and spacious.

The hotel is also an easy 1km walk to some great restaurants past the beach at the small harbour.

I can’t think of any negatives. This is not a flash hip boutique hotel with a restaurant or swimming pool, but quite honestly it really is very nice and is a great place to stay. It does what it says on the tin! And is a well managed property.

Our third stay at Villa Mary Elen - great location and always good

The owner was friendly and very accommodating. Every morning he brought us a delicious breakfast. The room was clean and basic. Good location, with beautiful views of the sea, adequate parking, and a 10 min walk to downtown pollonia.

Horrible staff here. The short story is that on the day we checked in, while I was taking a nap, the (insane) receptionist banged loudly and repeatedly on our door, refused to identify herself when asked, then screamed at me, accusing me of lying. Then she later yelled at my wife and accused my wife of lying. The manager promised to meet with us at checkout, but didn't show up. What a nightmare. Avoid this hotel.

Details: We agreed to a discounted cash rate, the receptionist asked us to bring payment to the desk after we were settled in our room. My wife promptly brought cash to the desk as promised, but the office was empty, and after calling out loudly many times with no response, walked to lunch, then returned again to the office with cash, it was empty, called out hello hello hello, no response. My wife went to the beach planning to later return a 3rd time to the office. I am temporarily disabled (broken ribs) so I stayed in the room, took some pain meds and went to sleep. I awoke to banging on the door, I could not get up (ribs), so yelled out "who is it?" and in greek "ποιος είναι?" repeatedly, no response, just more banging. This continued for 10 minutes. It was very painful (ribs) but i finally managed to get up and put some clothes on and get to the door, I did not know who was outside that door because there was no response, just banging. But I opened the door and there was the receptionist, in a red-faced rage, screaming  at me that my wife never came to the office with payment. When I told her that my wife went to the office twice to pay but nobody was there, she accused me of lying. But she admitted that she had been out of the office, ironing. So I called my wife, who was at the beach, and asked her walk back to the hotel and bring payment to the office a 3rd time. When my wife paid, the receptionist accused her of lying about earlier visiting the office twice to pay. The manager later visited our friend's room and promised to meet with us a checkout. He didn't show up. We have stayed at several hotels on Milos, all great properties with kind, helpful staff, never had a problem. You have many choices on the island. Avoid the Villa Mary Ellen and their abusive staff.
