Vasiliki Apartments

Since moving to Crete we've stayed at a lot of villas, apartments, city hotels, and all-inclusive resorts. We travel around the island a lot looking for stories and news to write about. So it was that on our son's 10 birthday we headed to Platanias for a boat tour and to take in some attractions we have not covered yet. This time, instead of calling partners or friends who own hotels we decided to just find the closest and best-priced accommodation near Porto Platanias Marina. How about this for a surprise, we end up finding a gem right on the boardwalk and inches from three of the best restaurants in the area. AMAZING! That's what we felt when Vasiliki invited us into our room. If you want atmosphere, a great price, and the perfect location, this 6 apartment stay is a classic Greek hotel with up to date amenities over old-school charm. I told the manager, Yiannis Niaoustas that we want to make his aunt's apartments our permanent Chania vacation spot. Seriously, if you understand the need to stay at a self-catered accommodation while on Crete, there is no better choice. Break it down yourself. €18 euro for breakfast for three at Carpe Diem on the beach right next door, your room rate at this classy little apartment hotel, and "all-inclusive" institutional food and a pool begins to look a lot less attractive. The Cretan Sea is right outside your room, after all. I cannot recommend this family-owned business strongly enough. Really. I took one point off because the beds in our room had super firm mattresses and because I was too dumb to figure out how to close one of the windows. Just to be absolutely correct here.
