Trafohaus

We stayed in hotel trafohaus on a friends recommendation and were not disappointed. The place is the opposite of the soulless 5-star hotels you find anywhere in the business world. Located in the center of romantic Gräfrath part of Solingen, this former electric transformer station was repurposed into a 1-room home and then later into a "hotel" (actually guest room would be more fitting because there's no other rooms. The ambience is fantastic, the place oozes cozyness as Peter (the owner) used to live there for 11 years before deciding to rent it out. It definitely feels like a home, not like a hotel. There is no breakfast included but the "Kaffeehaus" just 100m down the road offers a fantastic breakfast. I definitely recommend for people who are tired of the usual 5-star hotels and are looking for a special experience.
