We are currently on a road trip in Germany and this was our first night. We had been travelling for many, many hours and needed somewhere to stay. This hotel was great. The location was simply stunning. The room was comfortable and tidy. Also a very nice size. The balcony let you have a lovely view of the lake. Check in was superb and very efficient. The breakfast was good with a great selection. There isn’t a lot around the hotel (there is a little shop/bar opposite), so be prepared for this. There is a hotel next door that has a good restaurant. We would definitely stay here again if the opportunity came up.

German road trip.

Reminds me of a seaside resort.  Room was great, beds were comfortable.  Dining a short walk in either direction.  Breakfast was delicious and many choices.  Staff very welcoming and helpful.

This is wing Commander Krupakaran visiting  Aachen almost every year except for the pandemic period and every time come over to Cafe Inn with family to lunch.

The ambience, professionalism by the staff serving the patrons with an enchanting countenance to ensure patrons are more than served to enjoy their meal is a singular event.

The quality of food -be it the salad, crème of the waffles, cakes, tomato soup, or dishes are all so good that not even a crumb is left out. Mom is so particular on taste, quality and presentation is

Beautiful view of the lake and mountains. Great terrace. Clean, newly decorated room. Only German stations on tv

Amazing location on the edge of the lake. Fantastic welcome and lovely breakfast. Wifi did not work in the room and 3G/4G was a bit dodgy. But I can forgive them for that as it was overall excellent. I'm sure they will get the wifi issues sorted out

Excellent little hotel & cafe

This is a very pleasant small hotel, in a Rurel part of Germany, overlooking a massive lake which is used as a drinking water reservoir.

It is a ‘Garni Hotel’ and so does not have a restaurant as such, but it is attached to the café run by the same family, which serves an excellent breakfast. However the café closes at 6 pm and so dining options are limited. There is a leaflet in the room giving some suggestions for dinner but unfortunately two or three of the local ones have closed down recently and the others, in the main town of Simmerath, or a fair drive away.

The adjacent larger hotel, the Paulushof, is run by the same family and has a traditional German restaurant, which is fine for two or three nights, but I wouldn’t like to eat there every night for a week or so.

The hotel itself is very nice, clean and comfortable, with excellent beds, and each room seems to have a good view over the lake. The staff are welcoming and friendly although have limited English, as this is not really an area where you see many British tourists.

The only thing that stops it being a five star review is that they should spend a few more euros on some decent towels! The towels in our room were very small and thin. I would’ve said so on check out but unfortunately my “tourist German“ did not really run to that............

Overall a very pleasant hotel and I would certainly stay there again, but it’s probably more appropriate for a couple of nights whilst driving to and from the Hook ferry rather than somewhere to stay for a week’s holiday. 

Lovely spot by the lake

Cafe Henn was a lovely hotel and the staff were really friendly and spoke fantastic English.. handy as I haven't practised my German for a long time! The coffee and cakes they served during the day were delicious and the view was beautiful. Sadly, as we went out of season the nearby restaurants etc. shut very early or weren't open at all - didn't bother me though. Just enjoyed the walks and little drives into Simmerath. Thanks for a great stay, Lawrence.

Garni Hotel Cafe Henn

I stayed for one night in this charming hotel. The surrounding town and area are very pretty, and it seems a favourite weekend destination for the locals. My room had a balcony and a great view over the reservoir. The staff were very friendly and helpful despite my lack of German. 

Note that you check in in the cafe. The cafe was very busy on the Sunday I arrived.

Charming Hotel

Very nice location with a beautiful view. Splendid rooms and very good matras. The breakfast was also great, we even had smokef salmon. Staff very friendly. Room for 2 with breakfast was 106€. Parking was for free.
