Baumberger Rheinterassen

We wanted a hotel not too far from the motorway network to break the drive home and allow us to visit some of the attractions in the Ruhr. This hotel is in a small town not far from Dusseldorf, just off the motorway and offers river views. Just what we were looking for. The directions on Google maps were not entirely accurate and we had a bit of difficulty locating it. Our room with shower was a bit on the small side but perfectly adequate for an overnight stop. The furnishings were rustic style with painted decorations on the wooden furniture and a wooden floor, but everything was clean and the bed very comfortable. There were thoughtful touches throughout. On the downside only one window could be left on tilt and it didn't feel totally secure as there was scaffolding outside. It was very interesting to watch the river traffic at all times of the day. The hotel has a large terrace but the weather didn't encourage us to sit outside. The buffet breakfast was good and the food in the restaurant extremely well cooked and presented, and very reasonable. The staff were friendly and helpful.
