This hotel has a very misleading collection of photos. The rooms are worn down, the cleanliness at the limit of acceptance. The staff operates adequately and friendly. Our first room had dirty towels, a very dirty shower-curtain, a broken table and no curtains to a tiny window - see pictures attached.When requesting a new room, we were given one immediately. This second room was acceptable - see pictures attached.Overall our experience was very disappointing, since we expected a very different experience from the clean and modern looking images the hotel provided.

Reception reeked of curry, dimly lit.  Asked straight away if we wanted breakfast which we declined.  No restaurant and everything looked tired, dated and grubby.  Room was dreadful - not sure where the pictures on the website came from but our room was dire and good job it was a one night stop over.  Bathroom awful with damp stains and marks on walls very odd tap arrangement with no curtain or screen so water went all over floor hence stain marks all over floor in bedroom.  Grotty old furniture with tea bags and coffee and milk cartons but just two plastic water glasses provided.  Sheets appeared clean though and we were tired.  Nowhere to eat so luckily had handy hamper in car with food and beer and wine and music - just as well.

Very sad building

This hotel is very typical example of hotels in France. Friendly staff, but maintenance is okish, carpet on the stairs is old and contains stains of many years of use. The rooms are fine , straightforward and the beds are good enough. Well, wifi is at par with the overall picture spotty in some rooms, absent in other and I got a good signal in the lobby, but the password did not work out. On the pro side is the price, just cheap. Breakfast is fine, great croissants and coffee.

One night hotel. Expensive for the quality it provides.

We stayed here last week on the way back from Spain,We were chuffed to see a large secure car park at the rear of the propertyWe were then greeted by our lovely host,He had a beaming smile and was more than helpful,Showing us various facilities of the hotel,He explained that there was an easier way to gain entry to the car park again with a beaming smile....
Our room was spacious and extremely clean,The beds were also very very comfortable.
The toilet and bathroom facilities were also spotless,So all in all we were over the moon with the hotel,
Next morning when i was loading up my car,a loud good morning,how are you came from our lovely host!
Would we stay here again,Without a doubt.

Wonderfully Peaceful,Great Location,Lovely Lovely Host!

Run by an Indian family recently moved from Paris, hence my title! Although my French is minimal at best we were made very welcome with beaming smiles.we had been allocated a 2nd floor room in the "old" wing and our host, seeing my 97 year old mother, immediately expressed concern because there is a handsome staircase to negotiate, but they were completely booked so could do nothing that night. They were most apologetic. We managed, but the next morning they moved us to a room accessed by lift. 
Rooms were basic, clean and comfortable. A couple of hooks to hang clothes from in the bathroom and toilet would be a handy addition. 
Breakfast was simple, but more than adequate, with excellent local croissants, baguettes etc and a selection of cereals, yoghurt and other Continental bits and bobs.
Staff were attentive and pleasant at all times. Fridge at reception provided inexpensive bottled water, soft drinks (and beer?)
Is this a romantic hotel? Depends on how romantic you want it to be!
Gien is across the magnificent bridge which might be a bit of a trudge for the infirm, but well worth the walk over the river. There are restaurants in town, but the best is practically next door to the hotel, the Cote Jardin, with a Michelin hat. Booked up weeks ahead so need to book before you visit.
Gien has an interesting history, right up to the 2nd World War when it became a choke point as civilians and the routed army retreated before the Nazi onslaught. The town was all but destroyed by bombing in attempts to demolish the bridge over the Loire which was built to last in 1734. It really is a monumental structure!
Gien is famous for its faience - ceramics and dinner ware with vibrant colours and striking patterns.

The Third Best Marigold Hotel

We stayed one night at the hotel, on June 15. Staff is welcoming and location is perfect, across the bridge over the Loire river, i.e. walking distance from town. The rooms are basic but comfortable, bright and (for ours which was facing the back) very quiet. "French breakfast" (as it was described to us: bread, croissants, coffee, tea, fruit juice) is available for 8 euros (at time of writing), however we decided to skip ours. The small parking is locked at night - it is advisable to call in advance to ensure availability. If full, it is possible to park in the street. For those who arrive late (it was our case), a nice bar/restaurant is located across the road. Travel brochures for things to do in the region are available. In short, it fit our requirements: clean, centrally located and overall affordable (by French hotels standards).  It is located roughly 5min by car to the Ceramic factory of Gien (probably 15min by walk), the main "attraction" in town.
