This blue and white painted small hotel is set in a pretty plaza.

We were shown 2 rooms . The first was located on the ground floor, an adapted room, which was large and high ceilinged but had no windows, but we were told would be quiet. Then onto view the second room. This was a Suite really, which was gorgeous, with windows but which overlooked the busy and noisy street below. We chose the quiet one on the ground floor.

Although gloomy with no windows or bedside lights, the room had good AC and a safe but no key could be found for it (!) so all our goods and chattels had to be kept in our luggage - not ideal. Sadly, yet another Casa that did not have wifi - I’m not sure how these places manage to run their businesses without it. 

There are pretty patios on the ground floor (where breakfast is taken), and upstairs seating areas overlooking the patio below.

Breakfast was a paltry affair with dire tasting coffee.

This is an attractive looking hotel and it could be outstanding with some small improvements - and maybe we should have chosen the more attractive suite and risked the street noise.

Disappointing 

Pleasantly surprised at the quality of the accommodation as it doesn't look much from the outside.  However, the room was spacious and full of character whilst having all the amenities you'd require.  The staff were very efficient and friendly and the hotel is in a good, central location.  The breakfast was served to the table rather than a buffet but there was a good choice and very tasty!

Full of character

On arrival, despite having a confirmed reservation, the hotel claimed they were full and proposed to relocate myself and some travelling companions, to another property.  After a series of phone calls to the local rep of our booking agent, the hotel said they would make ready 3 rooms.  This they did, although the rooms were the poorest in the hotel, at street level across from the local late-night music venue.  These were still better than the alternative proposed, so we accepted.  The reasons for this are now bering pursued with our travel company and I await an explanation.
The hotel itself is pleasant, the location convenient and lunch and breakfast were satisfactory.

Booking irregularities

We had a great lunch on the terrace in front of the hotel.  We ordered just a sandwich, but it was one of the best we had in Cuba.  About the rooms I can't tell anything because I stay always in casas when I am in Cuba!  Because they offer much better value!!

The del Rijo is a former home, turned hotel. A wonderful fountain in the center of the building with rocking chairs on each floor to relax. Our room had a modern bath with nice toiletries, a roomy shower. The bedroom, tucked away in a corner of the house was large, but there were no windows, which was probably good because others in our group complained of noise coming up from the ground floor. The room was clean and comfortable.

Good location, large rooms

We have booked a big room for 2 persons ans we received a room for three pesons, a room with 3 beds,... it was very ‘romantic’ as a couple. The breakfast was ok. It is a beautiful building but everything is very old and it feeled a bit dusty.We stayed in much better places in Cuba

Just ok, it is cuba

This is a lovely, old building - full of history and style. The rooms are large and although furniture is old, there is everything you require, including a safety deposit box. Ours had a lovely balcony, overlooking a beautiful town square. You do get some noise, but certainly not to become troublesome. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They arranged taxi transfers and a day trip to Trinidad de Cuba for us. Breakfast was good, although fairly limited. We dined twice and the food was enjoyable. The bar staff are very friendly and the terrace is a lovely place to sit in the warm evening air.

Friendly and full of character 

While visiting Cienfuegos and Trinidad in March 2019, we spent tonight in Sancti Spiritus (the name is Latin, not Spanish) at this charming converted home. The hotel is right on the main square, and we had a very large room overlooking the plaza. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom adequate and there was plenty of cabinet space. We were on the second floor (there is no elevator), and outside our room was a large sitting area. Breakfast was served on the front patio, and was fine. The air-conditioning was more than sufficient, which turned out to be a blessing.

Our room had French doors leading out to a terrace that overlooked the plaza, and we had hoped to be able to open the doors at night and turn off the air-conditioning but that turned out to be impossible because there were people sitting in the plaza playing a "boombox" until two in the morning, so we had to close the doors and turn on the air.

One small thing at the hotel did that we thought was inappropriate and unnecessary. There is a safe in the room, but, to use it, one has to rent a key. That felt like grasping to us.

A charming hotel

Located at the very heart of Sancti Spiritus this hotel grants you all the comfort you will need. Do not hesitate to climb to the terrace where you will have a nice view of the city. 
It is at a footstep from the pedestrian street, the cathedral and the wonderful colonial museum 
2 things should be improved: 
The noisy rooms on the street (windows are not efficient and have holes) 
The restaurant which is average even if at the ground floor terrace
