We stayed for 4 nights at Aprtments Villa Irena as part of our 30th Wedding Aniiversary and could not have choisen a more perfect property to stay at. The owner Irena is a fabulous and genial host who made us welcome from the strt She arranged taxi transfer for us and provided us with good and useful information regarding Hvar ., We styed in the penthouse apartment which has two very large balconies .facing the pristine sea.The living and bedroom were perfectly equiped and spotlessly clean
The location is perfect just along the promenade from Hvar Town (about 10 mins flat walk) In the opposite direction  are two very good beach bars ...extremelyt relaxing !! 
A personal Thanks to Irena for the wonderful gifts she presented to myself and my wife for our anniversary. A perfect gestue from a perfect host.

     We rented all three apartments from Irena who is a great host! There was plenty of space for 10 people. Two of the units are one bedroom with sleeping space for four each and all units have balconies. The other unit is a two bedroom. The bathrooms are large and each unit has a kitchenette. The balconies to the front have a great view of the Adriatic Sea and there is a nice terrace/sun deck outside that is available for all. 
     The apartments are located approximately 1/2 mile west of the town of Hvar along the promenade in a quiet area. We had a gentle breeze from the sea during our stay. There is a grocery store, bar/restaurant, sandwich and pizza shop very close by.
     The rooms are clean with lots of windows and outlets. 
     The units are self catering so there is no daily maid service but Irena is available onsite and will provide extra clean towels or will call a taxi when needed. She is kind, cheerful and helpful. My one suggestion would be to provide a sheet of paper with basic information (i.e. Wifi code, phone number to taxi service, a list of other nearby services) for each of the apartments. 

Nice location with great views!

We stayed 5 nights in Villa Irena. My evaluation is really split into two parts: location and room and cleanliness. As regards location, Villa Irene deserves 5 stars without any doubt. It is located directly on the sea and it is the only apartment in Hvar to have that. It is 10-15 minutes easy walking from Hvar Center. The apartment we stayed had two bedroom and two bathrooms, a sitting room and two balconies, one exactly overlooking the sea. During the night, you can sleep in one of the bedroom with window open and it is like sleeping on a boat, but without movements. Last but not least, a wonderful terrace where you can stay all day and then go swimming directly in front of the house or in a close by beach.
So, what is the problem? The problem was, and I read this also from other reviews, which is even worse, is that the apartment stinks when we entered, coming from one of the bathrooms. This was a problem for at least 2 of the 5 days. On top of that, the bathrooms and kitchen were dirty and not cleaned. We found hair from previous guests in the bathroom and kitchen was not usable because of the dirt. We had a lot of ants everywhere in and around the kitchen for another 2-3 days and were forced to put powder everywhere to kill them. This is totally unacceptable in an apartment of this level and would deserve 1 star. I gave 2 just because of the wonderful location.

Great position, but not clean

Wow.! Great villa with a good host and great views.! Large, spacious and welcoming.! The reason I have given only 2 stars is because firstly, there was a very bad smell in our room... we thought it was from our bag or some old food we were carrying but when we asked Irena she very casually mentioned that there had been a smell in that room since a year.. and that there had been many complaints.. if she knew, why give us that room? The whole villa was empty.. secondly, the wifii wasn’t working for 2 out of 3 days.. nothing was done about it and we had to tell her to try switching it on and off.. thirdly, no coffee, tea, nothing was kept.. when asked she said it’s not my job to provide you coffee packs .. the kettle was dirty and not washed so we couldn’t even warm up water.. for a villa that costly atleast the room shouldn’t be stinking and basic amenities should be provided.! Very very disappointed
