The hosts here were a fantastic couple...both very smart well educated people. Beware this place is advertised as an Air Conditioned room but I’d give the AC a 3/10. It’s in a common hallway and only turned on for 2-3 hrs in the evening. This is more like a Fan Room. Also Do Not Try to pet the dog even the though his tail is wagging *** it’s a trick. 

Great Hosts but not great AC 

We expected a room with a private balcony but shared a terrace with the owners which felt a bit awkward. Our reservation stated daily room service but it was only cleaned once in five days and bins emptied twice. Windows were very dirty and the air con unit was centrally controlled by the owner. However on a more positive note the owners were very welcoming and friendly and even did a wash for us at no additional cost.

A home stay experience.

In summary, good location if you want to be out of town and in a local area, close to San Luis beach, shops nearby. Air con not as advertised, and I would only return to a room/apartment where you have your own space. 

I would think that the good reviews relate to the triple/quadruple rooms on the ground floor of the building, and also the apartments, with both of which you have your own privacy and are self sufficient with bathroom and kitchenette. 

The two double rooms are upstairs in the house, one has a bathroom inside and the other uses a shared bathroom just outside the room. Both sit opposite each other and have curtains hanging over the rooms and area which gives a nice privacy when in them, but they share a lounge and kitchen with the owners. We stayed in the room with its own bathroom and this was our honest experience. 

The location is ideal if you want to be out of the town/toursisty area and experience one of the more local areas. There is a good small supermarket and plenty of shops close by to get all you need. Rocky Cay beach is 10/15 mins walk to the north and San Luis beach is 10 mins walk to the south of the house. We loved San Luis beach and the Donde Francesa restaurant. 

We spent all of our days diving and Scuba San Andres picked us up and dropped us off every day which made transportation very easy. Taxis are expensive on the island so the cost would've built up (a few dollars) every day. We saw some buses around the island but not many and we weren't advised of any timetables.

We didn't spend much time in the house and when we wanted to we didn't for 4 reasons; 1. it was far too hot (see air con below), 2. the TV in the room was small and not really usable (just had one blurred channel), 3. we found the shared space uncomfortable (see further down), 4. we weren't able to enjoy the garden as the description suggests - there wasn't much of a garden and nowhere to sit in it. 

The room was advertised with air conditioning- but this was not the case. The owners told us that they had to keep their electricity down, so they controlled the air con (kept the remote!) and would only turn it on for us when we asked (usually between 6pm-7pm) then every night they'd turn it off around 9pm. The humidity on San Andres can be quite unbearable and the house and room were really hot to be in. Sleeping was manageable when we opened the windows in our room and had the wall fan on full and pointed directly at the bed every night. There were a few mosquitoes so we used nets (but this is the case everywhere on San Andres). 

Edula was welcoming and helped us with anything we needed. One day we asked to hire a buggy and she organised it straight away for us. She also organised a lovely driver to take us to the airport when we left. Her husband however we found very difficult to be around. He would often try to discuss politics and force his opinions on us so we felt uncomfortable and tried to stay out of his way most of the time. 

I would recommend the triple/quadruple rooms and apartments for their privacy and self-sufficiency without having to share the space.
