Kingbird Hostel

The story of our host couldn't be told without a story of a journey to the magical land that lures and captivates souls of travelers, vagabonds who might anticipate but are still not completely aware of how deep into their pores the land crowned with three ranges of Cordillera would infiltrate. I still recall the sight of our first South Pacific sunset and what I refer to as 180 degrees of freedom. We are riding motorcycles and following winding paths of a sandy beach. Stunned by the sight, our eyes are following the outline of the Ocean, the direction of the horizon southeast-northwest. The clouds, big peach-painted cumuli are separating us from Australia and Asia in infinities. We are running towards the luring horizon, laughing loudly and letting the Ocean splash our bare feet. We are staying in the immediate vicinity of the Ocean that, depending on the day, repeatedly advances and retreats several tens of meters towards or away of the distant horizon, revealing the vast beach in the evenings and awakening us in the morning by the whisper of waves at hand reach. We then glide with through dormant canals and soak up the beauty of delta painted with lush mangrove forests...  Even now, five years later, I can assure you that Kingbird is where you need to stay and these are the people you need to meet! We experienced La Barra, as well as San Cipriano, thanks to Jose, the owner of the hostel. Just like other Colombian friends, he is the reason why we had a feeling of home away from home. Besides sharing his hub with us in Cali, the capital of salsa, and providing us a room to stay, he took us to the coast and made our journey truly a memorable one!
