Booked in here by Binter (Cape Verde) Airways after they cancelled one of our flights.  Cancellation was caused by adverse weather conditions, so no blame attached to Binter in that respect – they did, however subject us to a horrendous experience ... The Hotel America! 
In short - it's alongside a main road; reception up three flights of stairs; musty rooms; broken air-con; no soap; no toilet roll on arrival; water running across bathroom floor; rusty shower cubicle; floor to ceiling windows that open straight onto a 3-storey drop – no safety bars at all to prevent falling out; bed so hard you can feel the springs through the ancient mattress; sockets falling off the walls leaving exposed wiring; no reading lights etc etc.  Added to which there is no working bar or restaurant at this hotel - we were shown a pizza place on a distant street corner and told we had Euro10 to spend.  
A complete joke – why on earth do Binter use this “hotel”?
If you ever feel the urge to venture to Cape Verde – do so, there are some wonderful adventures to be had – especially on the less-inhabited islands.  Just hope that Binter Air don’t have to overnight you because of cancelled or late flights – they might just put you in this 0* hotel – even if your original booking (that you have already paid for and which circumstances, whether or not their fault, have caused you to miss) was a 4* or 5* hotel.
Avoid this 'hotel' at all costs.  If offered this hotel – insist on going elsewhere - anywhere!

We were put up in this hotel by Binter Air, as they cancelled our flight. It does very little for Binter Air's reputation. The hotel is old, and has no elevator. We were allocated a room on the 4th floor, and no help was given to us with our luggage, even though we are old age pensioners. The room was dusty, and appeared not to have been used for a long time. It was a huge room, but sparsely furnished, with very old furnishings. The air conditioning did work. There was no hot water in the shower. The food was of a poor quality. Wi-fi was available in the reception area. The manager was helpful.
