The room we stayed in this year was unclean.  There was a film of dust on all surfaces, greasy handprint on the wall, light switches not wiped, dirty garbage can, dirty range hood, a dirty tired looking shower curtain, and debris under the bed.  I did not appreciate having to wipe down the room before I felt comfortable to stay in it.  I reported this to the office and have not had a response except that my concerns would be passed on to the head of housekeeping.

Great location, great off-season price, disappointing cleanliness

Truly amazing ocean views from our patio doors. The full moon shining over the water was outstanding! Quick access to the ocean for long beach walks. Well stocked, sparkling clean kitchen (the cleanest I’ve ever seen!) Friendly, helpful office staff. Our minor concerns were dealt with immediately. I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a mid-range price point and hope to stay here again. It was the perfect place to celebrate my birthday!

Beautiful location, quick ocean access, extremely clean!

What a wonderful resort!  Stayed for a week in a one bedroom unit with a kitchenette and everything was clean and comfortable.  Had an absolutely amazing view from the balcony!  This place had everything we needed: laundry facilities, great internet connection, easy access to the beach, easy access to town, etc, etc.  Very friendly, helpful staff as well!  We will absolutely return to this resort as it has everything one could possibly need for both long or short term stays. 

Fantastic Resort With an Amazing View!

We have gone to Madrona with our extended family for 5 consecutive years in June. Last year we had to cancel because the PHO mandate would not allow travellers to leave their region. We live in the lower mainland. Madrona cancelled our reservation for 2022 because we were unable to come in 2021. Their  reason was “If you didn’t come last year, you don’t come this year”. I explained several times to them that it wasn’t our choice to cancel 2021 but they would not take into account the 2021 PHO restrictions. We are very disappointed with their attitude.

Poor attitude due to pandemic restrictions.

We planned to stay for 3 nights but stayed for 9, it was so lovely. We stayed on the ridge in a large studio unit with a nice patio. Great kitchen. Terrible bedding, as the sheets were much too small and the pillows were awful.

Stunningly Beautiful Resort

We booked one of the studio units on the ridge.  There are also beachfront units at the bottom of the property.  We were told there was a five minute walk to the beach on a path.  In fact, it is a very steep wooden structure with non-skid paper and rumble strips.  No way we and our beach wagon could make it up and down it.  We were told we could drive down the driveway to the beachfront unit parking lots and unload our stuff and then park by our unit on the ridge.  The driveway was very steep as well, and we would have been hard-pressed to pull our wagon back up.  Or to walk up and down should we need to use the bathroom.  So we had to access the beach during our stay via the nearby Provincial Park.
     The property is very nice, the studio was well-appointed and clean, and the staff were very helpful and courteous.  Lots of safeguards in place, including the unit not being rented the night before your stay. The view from the patio and grassy area out front was fantastic and I took lots of pictures. One odd thing - big warning in the unit about the use of cannabis not being allowed as this is a 'family friendly' resort.  Tobacco smoking is allowed in designated smoking areas but use of cannabis would result in a $400 fine. Cannabis is legal in Canada, as legal as alcohol, and many people use it for medicinal purposes.  We found empty wineglasses outside and guests were drinking wine at outdoor tables.  Apparently that is family friendly.  Didn't really make sense and doubt the fine would be legal.

NOT GOOD FOR THOSE WITH MOBILITY ISSUES WANTING BEACH ACCESS

This was our first time here. Stayed here for 3 nights at the end of December for a mini break. Picked a ground level studio on the ridge 29A because it had a fireplace. Drove to Mt Washington for the 2nd day which took around an hour from Parksville (gotta have snow tires and carry chains). The views from the windows are beautiful. I got a shot of the gorgeous pink sunrise one morning. Queen bed was v comfortable but had to wear earplugs because of the refrigerator noise. The pull-out bed sucked big time, like really bad, v uncomfortable even for a kid. Upholstered chair and sofa need a clean. Kitchen was great. Made full use of it: full size stove and oven, full size fridge and freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, kitchenware... very homey. Big TV with plenty of channels, DVD player. You can borrow dvds from the office as well as games, books... Big closet - great for snow boots and coats. Only 1 dresser though. I guess we were v lucky because we had no noisy neighbors above or next to us. Beautifully peaceful. We loved having the fireplace and felt v cozy and warm. At night you can see the lights across the water and the lighthouse. We didn't make it down to the beach but went to Rathtrevor beach down the road. You can see the mountains in the distance. Bathroom has shower, no tub, and a built-in hairdryer. Honestly we felt v happy with our little place and although it is not super fancy it had everything we wanted and needed (apart from the sub par sofa mattress). Most of all it was affordable for those of us not made of money. V pleasant staff. Recommend it to those who want a view and don't need a bunch of frills - buy your own coffee lol. Would have been a 5 star if not for the sofa bed. 

Christmas mini break 

We stayed at this resort on a getaway for our anniversary. They had a great deal on stay two nights and get the third night free. We stayed in a unit up on the hill facing the ocean with a beautiful view.

The only concern about these units is if you are in the ground floor you are probably going to hear the people upstairs.

Our upstairs neighbours got up at 4:30 so our night was a bit short. They were not being purposely noisy but nevertheless we could hear them.

The management at the office was very cooperative in moving us to a different location which was right on the beach. We just paid the incremental price for the beachfront unit. It was totally worth it.  

We look forward to coming back here and bringing our kids as it is such a beautiful place and the tides go out and expose hundreds of meters of sandy sea bottom full of shells.   

Disappointed... that we couldn’t stay longer!

We stayed in unit 20 A. Extremely clean and had everything we needed. Even a dishwasher and outdoor bbq. This unit has a patio on main floor facing the water. If you get up just before sunrise you will experience the sunrise. It is worth it.

Clean, complete and incredible view

We spent four days mid-week, me, my daughter and her husband and their two boys. We loved the immediate access to the beach, watching the tide go way, way, way out. Built a sand castle on the tidal flats, then watched it washed away by the tide coming in. Lots of amenities nearby, including the town of Parksville and Rathtrevor Provincial Park. The unit was well-equipped and clean.
