We spent 5 nights at the Butterfly Pea Hotel last week. The hotel is in a peaceful location near the river and it’s a 10 minute walk to get to the busier part of town. It’s also very close to the wonderful Marum restaurant where we ate dinner a couple of times. The room was nice, clean and cool after a hot day of visiting Angkor Wat or Tonle Sap.

The highlight of our stay were the staff of the hotel, who were so helpful in organising excellent drivers for us for a temple visit and for our stay in Battembang. The staff were a delight to chat to - we learned so much about life in Cambodia from them. Breakfast is delicious, with both Cambodian and western options, including avo toast. It’s good to know that a stay at this hotel helps to support local communities such as Prek Toal village.

Butterfly Pea Hotel

We had a great four night stay at the Butterfly Pea.  The room was lovely and the staff was friendly and attentive. They helped us set up our Angkor Wat and vicinity tours at reasonable prices.  There are restaurants and laundry services close by, though it is in a quieter part of town, along the river, roughly opposite from the National Museum.  Wifi worked great.  Breakfast was good as was the restaurant generally,  We had a late flight out and they were not full, so they let us keep the room all day at no extra cost.

Accommodating in every way!

The owner John and all the staff made our visit to the hotel exceptional. They were extremely helpful and nothing was too much effort, even finding an extra room when needed. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable and the passion fruit daiquiri's are out of this world. I would highly recommend staying here and if ever I am back in Siem Reap this is where I will stay. 

Absolutely a fabulous boutique hotel in the heart of Siem Reap and by the river.

It's a joy to stay in Butterly pea, a hotel in almost the centre of Siem Reap. Beautiful, clean rooms with all facilities. Very friendly and helpfull staff, personal touch and  a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere. Butterfly pea is a calm oase in a dynamic city. I stayed here almost two weeks and enjoyed every moment. Strongly recommend it to everyone.

Warm, great, personal touch in fantastic hotel

Run as a social enterprise, this hotel is a quaint and comfortable place to stay after a long day. It is located far enough from the noisy and busy part of town, but close enough to walk to various locations around the city. It is especially close to Marum, another fantastic social enterprise restaurant run by an organization called Kaliyan Mith associated with Friends-International. The rooms are very clean and well-equipped, and the staff are wonderful. The breakfast was delicious as well, and they had live music performances the nights I stayed there. When I left, they gave me a hand-written thank you note that was lovely. I will certainly be staying here again next time.

Beautiful and heart-warming stay

This hotel is based down by the water side and very close to the local park, where we celebrated New Year with the locals. Easy to get to my favourite shopping area Made In Cambodia Market and the main town centre. 
The hotel has a lovely feel to it. The staff are exceptional. The owner John is incredibly helpful and caring. 
Best gin& tonic we had since being in SEA.

Delightful Hotel

What a great place to stay in Siem Reap. I was travelling with four young teenage boys enroute to Battambang for a week of volunteering and service. We all loved the place. 

The staff here is Super friendly and the bed is very comfortable. The room is spacious and well designed. We loved the breakfast and the cool dip in the pool after a Long day of temple hopping. 

It’s a short tuk tuk ride to Pub Street. Close enough for a Long walk but just off the hustle and bustle of the marketplace to be quiet and restful. The proprietor is very friendly and has a big heart to help the local social enterprise. I’d definitely come back. 

And for Catholic travellers, there’s a beautiful wooden church with English mass just a few doors away. 

Overall experience is a Two thumbs up for us. And oh...did I mention the pizza? It’s Fantastic!!!

A quiet Sanctuary 

Stayed here for 3 nights on our first visit to Cambodia.  John, the owner, was a pleasure to meet.  He and his staff did a great job of making us feel welcome.  The hotel helped us organize a guide for visiting Siem Reap on two days.  It was amazing....
John recommended us several food options in the area and they were all good.

Small in stature - big on charm

Butterfly Pea Boutique Hotel is not only the best in Siem Reap in terms of excellent service with a smile from airport pick-up by hotel tuk-tuk, to welcoming host John Ganshaw and his team, to very clean and comfortable rooms, and homey cooking. That's a lot but there's even more.

If you want to have a meaningful stay in Siem Reap and contribute to the local society, John Ganshaw is the perfect person to guide you. I came with my colleague and 15 university students to do volunteer teaching at two local schools. John linked us up with the schools, organized our daily schedule combining with tours to the Angkor Wat complex, the Phare Circus, etc. He also introduced us to a very good tour guide to the temples, someone who was well-versed with Buddhism and Hinduism!

This is my second year to stay at the Butterfly Pea. I always leave with nostalgia and with my heart brimming with joy after being surrounding with so many smiling faces in Siem Reap. 

I look forward to my next stay at Butterfly Pea! You should definitely try it!

Voluntourism at its best!

It’s really beautiful. Nice decoration. The staffs are polite and energetic. A band will be here in evening regularly. The room is clear and big. The hotel gave us a wonderful experience in Siem Reap.
