Fabius hotel of choice in pamporovo. Great ski in apartment.

Fabulous facilities and apartments.

The best bit is the staff, the restaurant staff are so friendly and could not do enough to make our stay perfect, thanks to all of them. X

Fabulous hotel of choice 

I stayed here in a three bedroom apartment with three of my kids this week. The hotel is basically a series of ski chalet style apartment blocks, we were located right at the top up several sections of lift.

The apartment was lovely, spacious clean and well appointed - there could have been some dishwashing materials as we had to buy them from the supermarket close by,

My teenager loved the big balcony - too cold for me :) I didn't go for the breakfast option as breakfast up the mountain is part of the fun.

The staff were great, I had some interactions with the management before by email they were very happy to arrange taxis and late checkout so we were able to ski on the last day before we left.

All in all this is not a 5* hotel however it was a 5* stay - it's a decent hotel for families looking for a budget ski holiday and who are not too concerned about the slightly dated appearance.

Great for families

We have had a nice ski holiday. Accommodation is fine (apartment) and hotel has all what you need for spending a nice period and having ski in good condition. Personnel is OK, there is small to medium pool, sauna, bowling - all inside hotel. Also, especially if you have kids between 5-12 years old, there is possibility to have breakfast or late dinner in the apartment - kitchen, fridge, non stop supermarket inside hotel. 
Do not look for staff or meals at level of Kaprun or Zee-lam-See because is not at that level - if you are looking for an average is OK. The slopes are very good maintained and takes all skills - from very beginners to top experience.

Good place for families with kids

The room was clean. The restaurant in the hotel is very good and it’s right next to the slopes. The main hotel lobby is clean the swimming pool is freezing cold and you have to wear a swimming hat. If you want to go skiing on a budget this is the place but not a patch on Austria 

First visit

Our friends have been here for the past 3 years so we thought we would give it a try. I was not sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised the room was clean the the main restaurant in the hotel was very good. For a cheap skiing holiday it’s a thumbs up

First time here

Hired a standard 2 bed apartment for a week For my family of 5. It sleeps 6 as it has a sofa bed in the living area. 
There were two bathrooms one was an en-suite. 
Unfortunately one of the bathrooms has an awful stench almost like a wet clothes/damp smell so we hardly used it. The other bathroom smelt fine but ran out of hot water after about  5 mins of taking a shower, which meant we had to stagnate our showers through the day which was a real pain. 
The kitchen was an open plan lounge / kitchen, it was nice but a little dated and didn’t have staple items such as baking trays, a cheese grater or a peeler.  The washing machine was present but did not work and I only realised this on the second to last day (once I had loaded it!) as they decided not to mention it to me until I complained about it not working, not happy. 
The beds were not the most comfortable and I managed only One decent sleep. The sofa had is very uncomfortable but the double bed is also hard to sleep on as the mattress was so thin. The bedroom wardrobes are a very good size however and have more space than you actually need. 
The facilities are good, they have a small kids area best for 0-6 year olds, but parents must be present at all times. They have a small three lane bowling alley and a handful of arcade machines so my boys were happy with these bits. 
Swimming pool is nice but is 26 degrees so not too comfortable and best for those who want to actually swim than a leisure pool for families. 
Good location for skiing as it’s right next to the slopes.
In conclusion, cosy but needs updating and upgrading to more quality beds.

Nice, cosy but not one good nights sleep

The apartement is ok but missing half of kitchen things. There is a pan but nothing to for example turn eggs with. There is a fireplace in The room but you have to pay 15 leva IF you want to use it. You can use The swimmingpool BUT you have to buy a swimminghat 6 leva IF you want to swim. If you need WiFi you have to pay for all The days you have left and not only for one Day IF you for example want to rest in room only one Day. The breakfast is not good.. Not much to choose from. We wil not go back here.

Equipment

The apartments are a little tired and had a few faults such as broken bath, no plugs, no English TV and chargeable for WiFi! However they were warm and comfortable and adequate for a family of five.
The restaurant food was good and the facilities were brilliant for our teenage children inclusing table tennis, pool tables, bowling and gym. However the swimming pool was freezing and the changing facilities were very below adequate. The location was good to the slopes with a bus transfer and close to a lovely restaurant and small supermarket. Also close to mid station with bars and restaurants and ski in ski out and the ski lifts. 

Good value for money.

Enjoyable holiday

First of all I would like to say that I like Bulgaria - I feel that Bulgaria is judged by a higher standard then other European ski resorts. The standard of French ski hotels is certainly no better than Bulgaria. 

The lifts and the piste are well maintained and the staff that work at the ski resort are kind and helpful.

I have mixed feelings about Grand Monastery Apartments. The apartments are spacious, warm and serviced well everyday. It is really well placed in the Studenets area - straight on to a green run, supermarket, restaurants etc. 

If you book with Balkan Holidays do not take their offer of ski hire & ski lessons, you will have to go a long way by bus to collect your ski's etc everyday and the ski bus only goes ONCE a day at 9am and only comes back ONCE a day at 4pm!!!!! Better to use the ski hire & lessons via the hotel - same price & they have their own Nursery Slope.

As a family we were on half board at the 'Tavern'. The breakfast was awful, the worst I have ever had - scrambled & fried eggs sat in water, 'orange' juice was actually powdered orange and water! On top of this the 'Tavern' does not actually want you there! As the hotel has already paid for your meals, they would rather have paying customers. I have NEVER been treated so disrespectfully. They are racing to throw the meals at you and try to clear plates while you are eating, so that they can sell the table again. It was such a miserable experience!!

Other Hotels/Apartments in Pamporova put on a free of charge NYE banquet for their guests, we were asked to leave even earlier than the 8pm kick out on NYE!! Then they didn't open until 9am on new years day so we had to choose between breakfast or the only ski bus of the day!

Because of the awful 'Tavern' and the faff with the Balkan Holidays ski bus/hire/lessons I wouldn't recommend Grand Monastery, which is a shame because it is in a perfect position and lots of space for a family.

The good, the bad & the ugly!

So you will pay for 4 stars hotel and you will receive 2 stars stay! Never again. Rooms are with old and broken furniture. The corridors are extremely cold and dirty. Wet is everywhere you can smell and feel it as soon as you enter the hotel. Spa center .... you would better don’t go there.
