Caravela Pousada & Villas

Caravela Pousada is a nice lodge with a "secluded in the woods" feel to it, although it is just off a main road. Check-in and check-out were flawless - the rate was as booked and there was no issue with my American credit card.  We booked an off-road tour to another beach for the next day through the pousada staff. The tour guide arrived as planned in the morning, so no problem with that arrangement.  The staff members were excellent! We requested extra towels and blankets, and they arrived quickly and accurately. Also, one morning the eggs were nearly gone, so the cooking staff prepared fresh eggs!  We booked a three person room, with a double bed and one twin. The room could use some refreshing (paint, lamp with broken shade, old bathroom tile), but the point of the visit wasn't to stay in the room anyway. The shower had warm water and the beds were comfortable. The room was quite comfortable overall.  The property is a quick drive to several major shopping and restaurant areas. It also is walkable to those areas as well, although a bike would be even better if no car.  The only problem was wifi. There is no wifi in the rooms, and the wifi in the common area is quite slow. I would suggest a few repeaters in the cabin areas to allow wifi in the rooms and in the common area to improve the signal there. It wasn't a deal breaker for us, because we were able to find wifi at most restaurants. But, wifi is becoming very important to people, and I believe those improvements would add a lot more value to the property and make it even more competitive.  Overall, Caravela Pousada was an excellent choice. I would recommend this accommodation. You can't beat the value. ‎
