We were a little worried when we came to Antwerpen. However this hostell positively surprised us very much. Very casual vibe almost like if you are inside a normal house. The family that owns the place will sometimes have their children and dog running around in the lobby. The rooms are big and the beds are cozy. The service is fantastic and casual.

Gem inside Antwerpen

I stayed for 2 nights and I was impressed by the value of the hostel. It was in a reasonably nice location and was around a 20min stroll from both the old town and train station. 

The facilities were clean and bed was comfortable. I liked the concept of the sockets in the lockers so I could charge my device and lock it without having to worry of someone taking it. 

The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I sat down with them outside in the garden and we ended up chatting for hours and they even invited me to have dinner with them which I was super surprised and grateful for. They made sure I was taken care of and I felt very comfortable here. 

I will definitely use this hostel again in the future.

Welcoming and social

Went here for 2 nights and had a goodnight sleep. 
We were welcomed very nice and we took a room of 16 beds, however ended with a room with 10 beds. Top floor it was clean, no bad things actually. For a first time hostel in Europe, i am very happy with this stay!!
Very nice workers and owner they helped us out getting the most of our quick stay. Went there with 5 friends they were very please with the stay too! 2 great nights

extremely welcoming with comfy communal spaces downstairs and a spacious back garden, this hostel is a good value (and unlimited free coffee & tea in morning!)
not too far from city center, Boomerang may not be modern in all amenities, but is wholly sufficient- includes full kitchen facilities

Boomerang Hostel- everything is ok!!!

A bit of a walk from Antwerpen Centraal. When I got there, I was told check-in was over. I had no control over this as my flight arrived late. I was lucky the staff was willing to check me into the hostel. The main commons area [with bar and seating] was closed when I arrived. I did wanna have a beer and relax, but it was completely dead. Only the next day was it a bit more lively, but even then it had a subdued atmosphere. It is certainly not a party hostel. 

The rooms were alright, but look very much like a military barracks. The bathrooms were relatively clean, though. 

Staff did invite me to eat with them in the dining area, which was nice. However, a dog and kids were running around. The whole experience seemed more like someone's private home than a professional hostel. 

Not the Best Hostel

Dissapointing hostel, i would expect a hostel in a country like Belgium to have better quality.

My Nr1 complaint would be the careless lugage stockage, despite the hostel selling itself for having lockers and the rooms "actually" having lockers the staff insisted that they did not rent out lockers. The alternative is having to place it into a stockage room where you have to go ask a staff member anytime you want to enter it. Disregard that i found this room to be open on itself a few times and even found another guest looking through his bag on top of my bag on entering. I don't trust this, i don't like this.

The rooms are okay, expect them to be quiet warm during hot weathers, the sheets are crap, the pillows worse, so bring a alternative. All in a all i still had a decent sleep though.

The location is okayish

Would stay again in case other alternatives weren't optional

Dissapointing

Personally, the best value Hostel in Antwerp but I find management very hard and subjective.

Beds are not great. Showers are simple but with fair pressure and the kitchen is like home.

Ancillory staff are very friendly. 

Takes time for the management to warm to you, but overall this tends to grow on you.

Excellent music all day long and well looked after.

An occassional smile would be nice.

All said, worth the price!



Homely venue but hard

General sketchy vibe. I’m sure some people would be satisfied but if you want the “backpacker” vibe definitely DON’T stay here. This hostel seemed to host mostly long-term older people. Some sketchier than others. I left in the middle of the night. Not for me.

Not a pleasant vibe

We found the hostel fairly easy,  it's not directly in the city centre but close to one of the parks at about 20 minutes walk from the central station. The hostel looked nice enough.  We checked in and received clean bedlinen to make our beds.  The room looked nice but didn't have many electricity sockets.  The shower was clean and had hot water. We had to sleep but stayed awake half of the night due to excessive noise downstairs.  Even with earplugs the noise was too bad.  I went downstairs at around one in the morning to complain.  They turned the music down only to turn it back up 5 minutes later.  The employees or volunteers should have shut it down in my opinion.  There's enough opportunities to party in the city centre without disturbing the guests that care for sleep.  We won't come again.

Liked · Building could be used very nicely for the hostel. Common room looked nice.

Disliked · Read recent reviews about bed bugs, so I didnt protest and ask questions when i was put in a 14 bed room instead of a 10-bed room... After checking ten times the bed seemed clear of bed bugs. But dust everywhere and the bathrooms and showers were very yucky. The beds squeak with every move, no individual lights only big ceiling lights. I was lucky with an electricity plug by my bed, otherwise you seem to have to rent a locker that has plugs inside (according to other reviews). People were actually fairly okay in the room otherwise the ceiling lamp and the squeaky beds could have made things even worse. Was very happy when my alarm went off early at 7 and I could leave and find a decent toilet somewhere else.
