This is a perfectly adequate pensione with a gracious staff and enchanting breakfast scene (every guest coming in greeted the dining room with Guten Morgen!). 

Rooms cover the basics with even a small kitchenette. 

It was a bit musty and the wifi was so slow my pages never loaded.

We stayed for 4 night. The building of the pension is 700 years old. A tower was added to the building. The pension is pleasant, in the city center, breakfast is rich. There are few restaurants in the city and they are expensive. We always had dinner after traveling in nearby villages.

A plesent place

I and my husband spent a week in this very old but perfectly preserved house in the middle of July. Our Domitian room ( each room has its name in this pension) was comfortable with everything we needed. The view from our window and balcony was stunning. Frau Maier provided all the info we needed when we arrived and gave us the all inclusive Kaernten Card which saved a lot of our money. The breakfast was rich and and the two women who took care of us were very nice and friendly. The parking place is just at the house and there is also a shed for bikes. The house is located near the town centre and the lake beach. We felt really home- like in this cozy and impressing town.

House with soul.

We stayed here for four nights at the beginning or March 2014, for skiing in Bad Kleinkirchheim.
I was baffled by the high prices in Bad Kleinkirchheim so I searched for some accommodation in the next proximity. I thought Millstatt would be nice and I was inspired. 
The house itself is truly amazing, considering that, you won’t believe me, it’s 700 years old. It’s renovated and well maintained, it has clean rooms, most of them with nice view on Millstatt Lake or on the village. Nice and a little bit strange architecture of the building that gives a special allure to the pension. Mr. Manfred, our host received us for check-in and explained some things about the pension, showed us where the parking is, where we can leave our ski boots, showed us the breakfast room, etc. 
We got a nice small room with view on Millstatt Lake; we really enjoyed the view. It was small because we specified very loud and clear that it must be really warm inside because we have our 3 month old baby boy with us, so that’s probably the reason that we got a small room for. But it didn’t bother us; there was room enough for the baby cot provided by our host too. The bathroom was well equipped, with very good water pressure, which I really enjoyed. There was no problems with heating, as we were affraid.
They cannot offer dinner themselves but they have a partner restaurant. But because the restaurant was closed on Thursdays, exactly when we arrived, we had to eat dinner somewhere else that night. So during the next days we ate in some restaurants around: Einkehr (Bad Kleinkirchheim) – huge meals with lots of meat dishes, Pizza Al Lago (Seeboden) – excellent pizza, I even ordered and took it away and ate it in our room, and we also ate at Café Restaurant Columbia, the Staudacherhof’s partner restaurant – good food with decent prices.
The breakfast was really good; the rustic look of the breakfast room made it even more special. All necessary food for a regular breakfast: 2-3 types of cereals, milk, yogurt, bacon, cheese, salami, vegetables, jams, honey, etc. And the bread was very fresh; Mrs Michaela bakes it in the oven every morning and brings it in the breakfast room right on time. Sometimes, when the pension is full with guests, I think that Mrs Michaela would need some help in order to make the breakfast. Because she makes the tea or coffee herself, for each guest, you might have to wait a little.
There’s also a fridge available in the ground floor hallway, a kind of common mini-bar, where you can find beer, sodas, wine or champagne. You just take it and write it down on a form (each room has its form) and you pay at check-out, when you pay for your whole stay as well.
As skiing possibilities I recommend Bad Kleinkirchheim resort, Kaiserburg slope. I also skied on Nockalm (St Ostwald) and Maibrun, but Kaiserberg is really huge absolutely amazing. Even if in Millstatt were high temperatures (15 Celsius), the snow at the bottom of the slopes were about 40-50 cm, growing up to 170cm at the top of the slope. Perfectly maintained slopes, perfect conditions for skiing.
One more thing: at check-out, because we were on a hurry, we forgot the breastfeeding pillow for our baby. The hosts were really nice and helpful and sent it via post mail to a friend of us who lives in Austria and finally we got the pillow back within a few days. So, thank you! And also thank you for our last breakfast. They served it to us even if the pension officially closed in the day before, March 9th. It will be opened again on Easter Day.
As a conclusion: a very nice pension with nice owners, a good accommodation if you want to ski or if you want to spend your summer holidays. We’ll be back!
