I came across these cottages when I googled luxury farm stay and they did not disappoint.  I had no idea that they were there and for the location to provide both the countryside and the ocean outlooks was a bonus.  The location wasn't easy to find the entry as when a map was provided to us by the booking agent, there was limited phone cover so the map wouldn't open for us, but we eventually found our way in.  Perhaps a note stating that you need to enter via the caravan park would be helpful.
The quality of the cottage that we stayed in was exceptional and ticked all the boxes.  The only suggestion that I would make is perhaps a lap rug left on the couch to use at night when it is not quite cold enough to have the fire on but you just need something over your legs.  It was great that the cupboards provided all you needed given that you do need to bring all of your food supplies.  The bed was very comfortable with high quality linen/pillows provided.  The cottages are far enough apart from each other to provide full privacy.  It was lovely to be able to walk around the farm and get some exercise at the same time navigating the hilly climbs.  The beach right behind the cabins was unspoilt and lovely to hear the waves crashing at night.  Bonus to be able to bring out dog who enjoyed the freedom of the walks we took him on.  
There is some feedback that I would like to provide but this only relates to the information shared on the great ocean road website advertising the property.  Response time was poor when seeking answers to questions.  So poor in fact we have been home over a week and still haven't received a response!  It noted that dogs were not allowed inside, but I understand that not to be the case.  Ours slept on his bed by the fire at night.  I travelled with my daughter and the advertisement came up as a 3 bedroom home but it was two bedroom home and we couldn't get a response to see if we were allowed to use both rooms or not, so ended up sharing the same bed to avoid an additional cost. There was no where where we could book a stay for 3 pay for 2 option so will be using the direct website now that we know what it is thanks to the information inside the cabin.  The webiste we used also stated that there is no wi-fi but again upon checking in we found there was and thank you for including the password.  The compendium was very useful.
I know many people say we will be back and perhaps never get there, but I can assure you, I will be back, again and again.  I have my perfect get away place to go to and have not hesitated to tell people about it.  Thank you for an excellent stay.

A hidden gem - Glen Tara

My husband and I had a wonderful time staying in The Rivernook cottage. Our dog loved it too. The cottage was well equipped, very clean and had wonderful views. The sun warmed the cottage during the day and we enjoyed the wood heater at night. We walked to the beach twice a day and savoured the peace and tranquility and enjoyed the sunsets. We will be back again!

Relaxing and tranquil

The cottage at Johanna Seaside called Joanna was just lovely. The views, the wildlife combined with the farm life. The cottage has everything we needed for a staycation where we looked after ourselves and just relaxed. There is even a knife sharpener!
Our elderly dog enjoyed the stay too. Will definitely come back. Thanks so much 

It has everything!

Such a beautiful cottage. Great views and so comfortable. Loved the fire place. Clean and comfortable bed. Highly recommend a romantic getaway. Great walk to the beach. 
Views and more views!!! Also helped ourselves to some fresh eggs. 
Will be visiting again….

Relaxing and peaceful!

My husband, sons, our labrador and I have just returned home from our second stay at the Johanna Seaside Cottages and again we loved it. The first time we stayed in the farm house but this time we had Rivernook. We loved the privacy of Rivernook over the farmhouse which is next to the Valley, swimming pool and garden. 
The cottage is equipped with everything you need to cook a meal, and keep warm with the log fire (or split system). The beds are comfortable and the place is super clean. 
The garden always has seasonal treats - the giant carrot was a highlight for my 6 year old. My 9 year old found a huge cucumber. The addition of the chicken is great too, we even got a few double yokers. 
The boys loved the indoor pool too. 
Shout out to Ben who is lovely and super responsive. 
We can't wait to get back!

Another perfect stay at the Johanna Seaside Cottages! 

Dismayed by all the dog rules with notes all over the house.  The website had seemed genuinely pet welcoming.  I spent our stay worrying about breaking the many rules.  In spite of having to leave early because of a power black out, we had a note advising us that we had to leave the place, before 9.00 am, looking as if "a dog had not been in the house".  Note to dog owners as well - dogs are not allowed off lead at on beaches any time in this region.  Not the property's fault of course, but not much fun for dogs, or owners.  Cabins are well equipped and well maintained, not luxurious but lovely, with great views, but not really the dog holiday we were after.  And they were so looking forward to it!  Also, the mid week specials etc., are not online bookable, so do your research.  

Not really pet friendly

Amazing green rolling hills views with the roar of the ocean, and the cows mooing! The perfect getaway from the crowds.  Private secluded beach off the main Great Ocean Road with zero shops and tourists!  We wanted to stay longer, 2 nights isn't enough!  We will definitely be back.  My 2 boys (10&8) enjoyed walking through the paddocks with the cows to go to the main farm house to collect fresh eggs.  A short walk to the main Johanna beach, through the car park/camping grounds.  Heaps of sand and rocks to explore for my mini geologist's, plenty to explore without having to swim, as its too dangerous/wild.  Cute little touches for our dog too; bowls and old sheets provided, and a fully enclosed yard.  And a perfect way to end the day with a deep double spa and wood fire; what more do you need!  We didn't even turn on the TV! and I was hoping the wifi didn't work, but it does, haha, full signal!  The huge comfy king bed in master also ensures a solid night sleep!  You don't even notice the Winter cold or wind, we packed jackets and beanies, and it didn't feel that cold at 14C, the sun still came out at times, and can always curl up on the comfy leather couch around fireplace if raining and watch the clouds roll over! Cant get enough of the views!   Kitchen is modern with all amenities, including coffee plunger, tea pot, dishwasher and oven.  Apollo Bay (with 2 local supermarkets and plenty of cafes/fresh coop seafood) was a nice scenic 30 min drive away,  for any supplies needed.  Cant wait to come back!

Perfect Family Iso Getaway

My wife and I have just returned from a five-night stay at Johanna Seaside Cottages (in Rivernook Cottage).  Outstanding says it all.  The view to the sea and over the valley and surrounding hills, the birdlife and wallabies outside the cottage all make for a very relaxing and most enjoyable break.  Although we brought plenty of reading, we spent more time watching the beautiful landscape.
The facilities within the cottage are excellent and leave you wanting for nothing.   Access to the farm's vegetable garden and chook shed (with guests able to avail themselves to produce from both) makes you feel very welcome.  Johanna Beach is beautiful and very accessible from the cottages,
This was our second stay - and we are now planning our third.  Highly recommended.

Outstanding holiday

My husband and I booked for 3 nights and stayed in the Glen Tara cottage.
It was blissful. The cottage had everything you need, well appointed and very clean!
Falling asleep to the roar of the ocean is amazing! 
A perfect getaway!

Blissful getaway 

House was amazing!!!! The views were spectacular. Could sit there and stare outside the window all day and not get bored. We had 6 gets and it was amazing for a girls relaxing get away! Kitchen was well equiped. BBQ was so easy to use. The beach was 5 minutes walking distance which also had the most amazing lookouts!

The only thing I could recommend is having a TV in the rooms?
Only other thing - (Wasnt a major issue because we were all packed and ready to go anyway) but 9:59AM, the housekeepers were at our door. I understand check out time is 10AM but allowing an extra 10-15 minutes for guest to vacate would of been ideal.. Just for future purposes :)
