The hotel is very clean and the staff is excellent. The owners are super helpful. They speak English/American very well. They treat you like a friend. I have enjoyed our stay here so much. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone (especially if you are an ex pat). Also, it is two blocks from the beach.

Anna and Miguel are very accommodating and gracious hosts. It has been a wonderful experience.

Best Place Ever

La Cumbre is probably average for this low price in Piriápolis – less than US$40 a night for a double.  The owner was very pleasant and we had some nice conversations in Spanish, although she also speaks English.  The room was small, but I requested a room with a double bed rather than the other available, which had 2 twin beds.  It had a good-sized wardrobe closet, cable television, and a bathroom with shower.  The bathroom was what I think of as Uruguay beach style, with the toilet quite near the shower area.

Pluses:  about 2 blocks from the beach; quiet; cable TV had decent program selection.  There isn’t a lot to do in Piriápolis at night besides dinner and movies, so I appreciated the TV. The hotel is within walking distance of the bus station, a supermarket, and nearly all of the restaurants.

Minuses:  small hot water heater meant short showers; room had seen better days; breakfast was pretty minimal, even by Uruguayan standards.  Also, I had a head cold until the morning I checked out, so it was only then that I realized the mattress smelled of urine.

Great location, quiet, a bit run-down

We stayed here for five nights (well tonight will be our fifth)

Pros: Very close to the beach, owner speaks excellent English, prompt communication by email, breakfast included, daily room cleaning

Cons: quite expensive for what you get, rooms are super basic, rooms feel dirty ie sheets, shower head covered in mould. Had laundry done & it didn't smell fresh on return, maybe washed just in water no detergent? No discount despite staying 5 nights, no hotel amenities just the room.
