Came here because a chain hotel wanted 100 bucks (for a room in a small, isolated town near the border of Texas and Oklahoma.)

So the front desk person told me about the cheapest rate in town: here

You may have a tough time sleeping here, as the noise from outside is constant through the night. Not recommended AT ALL for women or families. Overpriced and really needs a renovation. 

Lowest in town for a reason

This is a sad and dingy place.  Hard to believe it is the same place that some TA reviews mention.  There were flies everywhere.  One bed was too hard, and the other too soft and saggy.  The fridge was the smallest we have ever seen.  The TV did not work.  The sign inside the door warned that Illegal Drug use would not be Tolerated.  What else can one say.  At least the room was reasonably large.

"Ugh" is the word that comes to mind here.

Hate to give a bad review, but this place was sad, shabby, smelly, and dirty.  The HUGE sign when I checked in said, "NO REFUNDS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES."   My cousin and I just wanted a place to take a break during a Colorado to Texas road trip.  The room smelled like a cross between dirty feet, mildew, and cat urine.  The carpet was in pretty bad shape. The TV didn't work.  The sheets and towels were clean and there were no bedbugs located in our mattress-box spring check, but the bottom sheet on my cousin's bed had two nickle-sized holes in it.  I used my cell phone to call the front desk to report that the toilet wouldn't flush.  I was told to hold the handle down until the bowl emptied. When I finally got tired enough to carefully crawl into bed, I saw there was a scattering of  toenail clippings and a dead bug between my bed and the noisy window-unit AC.  I didn't hear any riots or domestic disputes outside the room, but after an OK shower and dressing, we left as fast as we could.  I hope to save some other economy-seeking souls from this unkempt place.

Not Recommended

My friends and I stopped here before heading into Oklahoma after hiking in New Mexico. For the price I didn't expect much, but the reviews seemed ok and I've stayed at other cheap roadside motels that were clean and safe. First of all the people here were very sketchy. The women who were next to us who I think worked or were living at the motel looked like they might be on drugs.  There was a domestic dispute going on in one of the rooms. The room smelled like mildew and it only had a small window unit ac that took forever to cool down the room. I could have dealt with the ac for the price, but the smell and the people at this hotel were disturbing. Keep driving if you can't find another place!

Stay Away!

This is an awesome little old school quaint motel on the outskirts of Clayton, NM.  The rooms have been updated with quality beds and accommodations. Yet you still pay an exceptional price.  Great place to stay on a long trip.
