Stepped in a puddle of water next to the bed after a rain. It seeped through the floor and NO local management to help. Toilet lid yucky and no way you can sanitize exposed wood. The ceiling over the bed and walls showed rusty water damage. Kitchen sink sprayer locked up and did not need to take a bathroom shower. Old dirty silverware that I did not use. Couch had large gaps and embedded stains. Covered it before using it. Privacy compromised when blinds over front doors had missing plank and huge gaps because they were too narrow. Sunrise too cheap to buy blinds that fit. They tried to make it look clean with paint. Outside gardens were lovely, but sadly you cannot sleep outside. I paid $477 for two nights for the privilege of staying here. Very disappointed in Sunrise in Amelia Island. Dingy NOT quaint. Still arguing for refund for overcharging me….

Yucky inside nice outside AND no local management available

Do not go there!  There is NO one on duty, and the  phone number for the "local team" connected me to their far, far away  reservation group.  No one could be contacted, found or answered on site.   Additionally, the price is a scam: the price you see is later added  on to by booking.com, and the cost triples.  Booking.com does not make its presence or involvement known until after the transaction (I went through Vacasa).   This is done after you reserve the place!  I am contesting this fraudulent practice with my credit card company.  Oh, and try to cancel?  Good luck with that.  The first company, Vacasa refunds nothing and booking.com hides its critical numbers for cancelling deep into a lengthy e-mail, not just the reservation number but a PIN number as well.

Horrible, horrible, horrible!

The location of Sunrise Garden was excellent. We stayed in room 9 and it was nice and clean but our big problem was the mattress/bed was horrible. It was a Foam mattress on top of a few planks that made it a platform bed. My wife and I both sank in the middle of the bed and couldn't get a decent night's sleep. We will be looking for another place to stay when we come back to Anna Maria Island next year. 

Great Location but bed not so good

We stayed in unit 6 and it was perfect for me and my husband. It is ground floor with no one above. As other reviews mentioned, the pool area is beautiful. The location was great being less than a 5 minute walk to the bay and about a 10 minute walk to the beach. Right around the corner from tons of shops and restaurants on Pine Ave. Cute little market, 1 minute away, that has delicious food,  reasonably priced. This was our 1st time visiting AMI, but won't be our last. Will definitely stay at Sunrise Gardens again for the decent rates and perfect location. 

50th Birthday Vacation

Well maintained classic old Florida resort. Basic, but nice, accommodation with a full kitchen, good TV and wifi and a nice pool. Laundry on site was a plus. Walking distance to beaches on both sides of the island and close to shops and restaurants. 

Two notable problems: 1) The bed had a mattress that sagged. Made for five nights of iffy sleeping. 2) There are 16 units on the property. Of those, 14 have a view of the pool, and two (including ours) overlooked an active construction site, complete with nail guns, hammers, drills and Mexican pop music blasting all day. Probably something that should have been disclosed before our stay. 

I’d stay here again in one of the other units, but the construction made our condo a disappointment. Also, from what I saw there is no Vacasa staff on site. Check in and check out was handled via text. All of it went fine, but if there was an issue, not having anyone on site would be a problem.

Classic old Florida, with some issues

We stayed here in June of 2022 for a girls trip. We arrived a little early and were told we could leave our luggage at the office, as they would call when our room was ready. They never called. We finally went back to get our luggage and check if our room was ready, and the  office doors were locked with no one in sight. Poor communication overall, as our room was ready and we had to find that out ourselves (still had to wait for our luggage from the office). 

While the place looks “Old Florida” cute on the outside, the inside needs a lot of work. The pull out bed is very uncomfortable, thin and no support, and no pillows for the pull out. It creaked with every small move and felt like it could break at any second. The air conditioner is extremely loud, the main door would automatically lock some times and not others, the lock box was broken so we couldn’t leave our key in that. Very run down place, with very thin walls. 

As for the pool, it was nice but felt like a hot tub as opposed to a pool. The towels were always piled up and not restocked until late afternoon. 

Other than location and a decent kitchen, this place doesn’t have much to offer. The location is nice, and a short walk or bike ride to the beach (about a half mile). The price was cheaper than most in the area, but still not cheap enough to get us to come back.

Run down-poor management

The property is older but with some TLC it can be wonderful. We requested a unit with no one above us, got unit 4 with a unit above. It sounded like they were going to go right through the ceiling. Thank goodness they slept all night, Unlike us who had the worst mattress. We also had water leaking from fridge and a filthy AC filter that caused my allergies to make me miserable. We notified management on first day with no response. The pool area is very lush but the pool was dirty and stained. Towels at pool area and the grilling area is great. It’s so sad that the property has so much potential but not executed. The few supplies are of very poor quality a missed opportunity to make it a boutique resort is lost. No water on check out morning and no one at the office to provide any information. The location is great for restaurants and shops but the closest beach is not at all the best beach, it has hardly any sand area vs the other end where there’s hardly any parking but the sand and beach is beautiful. Try all the beaches and for sure try the “donut experience”

So much wasted potential

First impressions; We arrived at 4pm and checked into unit 1. We were greeted by an overwhelming smell of damp and mould. Even the towels in the bathroom were damp. Whilst we appreciate Florida is very humid, we have not experienced anything as bad as this.
Unit 1 is decorated nicely and the bed is very comfy. 
The location is superb and almost everything in Anna Maria is within walking distance. The pier is especially close by.

We purchased some damp rid to try and help with the mould, as the damp and smell started to make our clothes smell.
We then visited the Vacasa office (just behind the resort)  and advised them about  the smell and asked did they have a dehumidifier?
Their answer was to provide an ozone machine to eliminate the smell. We were advised not to be in the villa when the ozone machine was running.
We returned back to the resort a couple of hours later and found an ozone machine running in the corner of the lounge. It is very bad for your health to inhale ozone.

We turned the machine on and left the unit for a good few hours. It had a run time of 2 hours. When we returned there was a very strong choline smell which we found out was linked to increased ozone levels. 

The smell and the potential health implications caused unnecessary stress. We had to have the windows open to air the unit out.
Not ideal on a relaxing beach break.

The pool area was nice and unit 1 has parking directly outside.

For those that like to sleep in, the gardeners started leaf blowing at 8am. 

Overall a nice apartment, spoilt by the unbearable smell and damp. We have had to wash our clothes a couple of times to remove the smell! Location is fantastic, but avoid unit 1 if you don't like damp or mould.

Spring break

This is a cut and paste of feedback I gave to the management company.

Hi there

I had an email from you asking for feedback on our stay (unit 17, 3-6 February).

First the positives.  Anna Maria is a beautiful city and we loved wandering around it.  The restaurants we went to were excellent.  Unit 17 was spacious and there was plenty of space to hang our clothes.  The free laundry facilities were excellent.

A couple of important areas for improvement though.

1 Unit 17 is damp. I don’t know if this is an underlying issue with the construction or whether it needs a good airing. We found a tub of Damp Rid in the clothes hanging area which was full of water so this has obviously been an issue for some time. The smell of damp was pretty overwhelming so we bought our own air fresheners to dull the smell. People with respiratory issues should best avoid staying in this unit. Condensation covered all of the windows. The towels remained damp through our stay. It really needs a dehumidifier installing.

2 The WiFi was hopeless.  I received notifications before our stay to tell me Spectrum would be working on the system during 2-4 February and so there might be instances when it was out or intermittent.  In fact the WiFi was consistently terrible throughout our stay - the lounge got no signal at all and the bedroom signal faded in and out all the time - and there was no sign of Spectrum working on it.  Unfortunately the lounge tv had no cable modem or serial attached to it, so in the absence of WiFi it didn’t work at all. 

I hope this feedback is helpful and that you can get both these issues sorted quickly for future guests.

Lovely area but unit 17 needed some work

First,I'll list all the positives...
1. Super cute place close to the beach
2. A lot of things within walking distance
3. We stayed in unit 16 that was on the bottom and right at the parking spot so no extra walking. Super convenient.
4. Dog friendly
5. Free laundry
6. Fridge,oven,stove microwave,cute bathroom (although small), 2 tvs
7. Very nice grounds and pool (too cold to swim but nice area)
8. Very quiet and seemed safe

Cons...
1. We were below people with 2 large dogs and could hear them ALL DAY AND NIGHT.  I swear they were tearing the place apart. Loud thumping,pounding,etc. Anna Maria actually has a strict noise ordinance but it apparently doesn't apply to this situation. Just know if you are on the bottom floor you'll hear everything above you.
2. No working heat. It was 50 degrees in Florida and we needed heat. Called management 4 times in 1 day because they said they'd call back with an eta on a repair man but never did. We finally got someone on the phone that seemed to care. She made sure we were taken care of and got someone out (the guy looked at it and said "yep. It's broken. I'll have to get a repair man out to fix it").  Second guy came out the next day and told us our unit was actually supposed to be replaced in the next few days that there was nothing he could do about it. Management sent a heater the next day and a blanket that night (the blanket smelled like weed and I had to wash it,but I digress). Management knew the heat needed to be replaced and still put someone in that unit....not cool. 
3. Not a lot of space for doggy to go potty
4. Very small parking lot. Expect the person next to you to be right up on your car door. 
5. No hot tub 😞

Bottom line...we really did like it despite the cons. We would definitely stay again. Great little island. Unit was close to the pier and good food.
