This place became a life saver!
We initially were booked in at Lils on the waterfront for a 2 night stay for my birthday last monday, they cancelled our booking because of flooding, but didn't bother to inform us before we travelled, so was not happy when we turned up to find it closed!.....anyway we managed to get the attic room here at minster hub (room 8), it was lovely & homely, close to the minster and town center only a short walk away, and about 10 mins to train station. Modern bathroom/toilet/shower & towels, comfy bed, tea & coffee facilities and they left spare teabags etc in the small foyer in the entrance to help yourself. Sofa and TV plus they provided a hair dryer. Only downside is 4 lots of stairs and if you're tall maybe an attic room with sloping roof would not for you, but we were ok as we're only 5ft 3".  Enjoyed our unexpected stay here and would defo stay again....thank you for rescuing my birthday treat all was not lost!
A lovely little restaurant around the corner called Taas Nepalese, family run and had a lovely meal there.

The pillow and bed are really comfy wifis a bit bad but other than that it’s a binge place to stay with about a 5 mins walk to the York monster and the centre of York the sofa is also quite comfy the tv isn’t that bad just a tad slow

Great place to stay, central location couldn’t get any closer to everything, 2 mins walk to York Minster & 60 second walk to city walls. Plenty of breakfast options nearby on Gillygate Lovely cosy clean rooms (Fresh linen on bed!)and got all you need in one. Self Check in worked well, received detailed text/email informing how to enter via security key safes of entrance. Also forgot to mentioned Minster Hub has the added facility of purchased discounted parking permits from the York council as part of a guest house parking scheme, costing only £8 daily to park, when compared to paying the full metre rate of £13 daily which saved us!

Great place to stay

I have just returned from a 2 night break and I cannot speak highly enough of the place. Its in a great location, the room was clean, big and really comfortable. Our host Adam was so engaging and helpful (texts re journey advice). We bumped into someone in town (the lovely MamaRita) who is a friend of the place and who directed us to the front door. I think that shows the affection Zills is held in within York. We ate there 1 night, and the food was lovely. All in all, to get the best out a trip to this lovely city, I cannot imagine a better place to stay at than Zills

Great location, lovely room and superior service

Was a bit apprehensive after reading mixed reviews before I came… but I had nothing to fear because the room was great! Clean and comfortable, everything worked and great location! Could hear sirens on the busy street below at most hours of the day/night - but for a city Center this is expected. I stayed in room 7 (double bed room) for 2 nights and was very happy. Bit pricey but as a treat it was worth it. Initial communication could have been better/sooner as I really value confirmation from the property, but after I managed to find the contact details, the communication was good and clear. Key access was explained clearly and little chocolates, tea and water were even left in the room. Thank you for a fantastic stay! Will definitely recommend or come again! 

Pricey but worth it!

This is not a conventional hotel, rather it's a small number of rooms in a house.  Fine by me, we were out most of the time and didn't need all the facilities a big hotel has.  The location was great, very close to the Minster, walls, the Shambles, Bootham Park, 10/ 15 minute walk from bus and rail stations.  On the doorstep, Gillygate offers several nice cafes and restaurants, including the tapas/meze restaurant on the ground floor, run by the proprietors, who were lovely.  Cheese shop opposite, nom nom.
I was solo, my room was clean, pretty and quiet, but would have been a bit cramped for two people.  My brother and sister in law had a more spacious room with a sofa and big bathroom.  Be warned, the toilets are Saniflow - really noisy, and sensitive to anything other than the minimum being flushed (we had no problems).
We were able to leave our baggage in the front hall on our last day and pick it up later.

Fantastic location, nice people

Stayed 2 nights, room was clean and tidy. Location was very central to all local amenities. Only thing was parking is a pain as there isn’t many long stay parking but we did know this prior to arrival. It’s £13 a night for 24 hr parking. Lots of lovely independent shops and bars etc would deco go again.

We were quite happy with the apartment, it was safe and secure, the bed was really comfy and we were thrilled with how local we were. The main issues we had was with the bathroom, we had a dodgy blind in there which made using the shower and toilet awkward on an evening as people lived opposite, the blind also had chewing gum on it. The shower was quite hard work in terms of the connection from the hose to the main shower it was leaking and the water didn’t get very hot which was frustrating! Other than that we really enjoyed our stay here and the makeup mirror was such an incredible feature, never stayed anywhere with one before and I was super thrilled with this!

Safe and Secure

Very basic clean rooms but as described. I visited York recently and wanted somewhere in the centre that was not too expensive. The accommodation is very basic and things did need fixing or updating however it is as described. There is no reception and the landlord doesn’t answer the phone or emails so no use trying them if you need anything. 

The room was clean but a few stains on the bed sheets, everything worked in the bathroom however the paint was peeling off the walls in the shower and the blind was broken so everyone in the adjacent buildings could see you changing and showering! The poor person in the apartment over the road had a direct view to our toilet from their kitchen!

Wouldn’t go back

Very basic but as described

Main plus point is the location, very close to historic York centre. 
Access easy enough, once we figured the keys out. Parking nearby not cheap, but that’s not accommodation’s fault. 
A few minor quibbles, the extension lead for the bedside lamps didn’t work, managed without. Also the tv was faulty, no signal available, but we weren’t there to watch tv. WiFi signal not great, bit hit and miss. The bed wasn’t great, bit flimsy, and only 1 pillow each. And lastly the toilet, took an age to refill after a flush, and very noisy. 
Shower was good, and everything was clean and spacious. Plenty of tea, coffee and sugar, and a noisy fridge to keep the milk in.
Probably spend not much more for a hotel next time in York
