We came for the Warwick half marathon. ALL the staff who work at this hotel are so friendly. From check in to check out all the staff were very willing to help us. They even wished us good luck for our race and allowed us to keep our bags at the hotel for when we returned.  Thank you to all the staff I would 100% stay here again

We stayed here for one night in what was a superior double room £150 inclusive of breakfast. Now on the plus side: 
1. The people in the hotel are lovely, helpful.
2. The bar area is really nice and the food was also of good quality.
3. The location is great right in the town

The down side was that:
1. The room was super small and certainly not superior.
2. The bathroom was tiny and as you can see the shower was super tatty

For the price for one night I expected a lot better. This hotel does need some updating and consideration of the description of rooms.

Just Average

Quite possibly the most unfriendly hotel I’ve stayed in. 
Room was terrible, tiny, cold, old fashioned and dirty. 
Breakfast cold and sparse, general manager dismissive and unprofessional, shame as could be a really nice place. They all look miserable, no wonder the place is empty

Disappointing and dull

We were moved to this hotel following a double booking at another Warwick Hotel, and paid the extra expecting good things.
A few days prior to our stay, we called to reserve a table for dinner for our first night. Unfortunately there were no tables available for residents. 
The hotel looks lovely downstairs, however on reaching our little room on the second floor, we found a dirty towel in the bathroom and a full bin. The staff dealt with this quickly, although it would have helped to have a phone in the room as it was a long climb back up from reception.
Breakfast was disappointing. Not the selection expected from a room at this price point. No cooked option for vegetarians and the tomatoes were in with the bacon and sausage, so were a no go.
We returned to the hotel for a late sandwich lunch in the bar, only to be told chef was struggling and no food orders could be taken. Unacceptable for residents to be turned away. I popped in the reception loo before going back out to seek out food, and it was untidy with no loo roll.
On returning to the hotel that evening, we found that our room hadn't been serviced. We trekked down to reception to request some milk and were told not to wait there as it would be brought up to us. Two hours later we went down again to ask for milk as it hadn't been brought up to us!
The second night was very windy and we discovered that the window didn't actually hook closed so I was up and down all night, pulling it together.
Overall we felt it was overpriced with the standards of a lower rated hotel.

Very disappointing at £152.50 a night.

Quiet, comfortable, sophisticated. Lovely staff. Weird lighting set up. Heating turns off during the day. Restaurant closed on Sunday evening. If only they had under cover bike storage I would be a very happy customer.

A great place to stay.in Warwick

The hotel was kind enough to allow our huge party for afternoon tea and a family and friends gathering. The hospitality was amazing and the cream tea a delight. 

From the start of the process.. communication via email the hotel was excellent and very efficient.

The day was relaxed and staff super friendly but well organised.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them again.

Friendly staff and amazing cream tea

We live locally and went to check out the new restaurant in this lovely old hotel. We had a delicious meal and the staff were all friendly and polite. The decor is very tasteful without detracting from the historic atmosphere of the building. Lovely to see it looking revived and welcoming again. We will definitely recommend.

Lovely renovation of a classic historic hotel

We stayed here for two nights to attend an event that was happening in the hotel. We had never visited Warwick before, so had no idea what to expect and were delighted to discover that the hotel was so central to the town. It is also incredibly old, so has plenty of character. 

We were lucky to bag one of the car park spaces behind the hotel, which was very convenient. Check-in was very simple and our room was on the first floor, so not too far to walk. The room was nice and warm, although it was quite small (as I imagine most were) and the bathroom was fine, but only had shower over the bath. 

This is where the hotel dropped a little in our opinion, as the shower was actually only a little better than useless and on both mornings we had no hot water so had to go to reception as ask and it turned out the hot water had not been switched on (I assume this only impacted our section of the hotel, otherwise others would have complained before us).

Breakfast was solid with a decent selection and would fill you up well. The bar area was also very comfortable and a lovely area to relax in. The reception room at the back of the hotel was a very good size and catered for the party we were attending very well.

All the staff we met were friendly and Tara the Events Manager was excellent.

A two-night stay

On arrival we found the hotel nicely decorated the staff were helpful and everything seemed conducive for a comfortable stay. Our room had a superior king size bed as was clean and comfortable. (Not quite as nice as the photos on the website but ok - there were no extras like iron or hairdryer which seemed slightly lacking for the price. 

The bathroom was in need of a refresh but perfectly fine for our stay. Shower was lukewarm and one roll of cheap loo paper provided.

That night we were both woken repeatedly by noises from the corridor which shook the bed when people walked by. Creaking footsteps on the floorboards from the room above and then staff cleaning the bar below in the early hours. So we wearily headed off to boots the following morning for earplugs to get us through the next night. (We missed breakfast in a desperate attempt to make up for our broken sleep so can’t comment if that was nice or not!)

Upon return to the hotel for the second night we were greeted by a full DJ set, our room directly above had zero soundproofing between floors and walls, reception offered to move us but conceded we’d probably be kept up because of the noise even if they moved us to the other side of the hotel! 

There was no mention of the night long party at check in - we had to be up early the following morning so ended up leaving the hotel in the middle of the night to find alternative accommodation. Receptionist said I had been sent an automated email about the all night event - didn’t get it - who would stay somewhere where they are disturbed all night!  They were polite but also refused full refund. 

In terms of decor and staff I’d say this hotel is ok, but the room we stayed in had zero soundproofing from above, below and corridor. So if you need quiet for a restful and comfortable nights sleep I’d strongly not recommend this hotel.

If you’re looking for a function space for a big party I’d say go for it the DJ was pretty good!

Terrible nights sleep - cut stay short

Don't be fooled or put off by the exterior or name which might suggest this lovely place is a bit of an old man's pub showing sports... yes it's an historic building, but it has stylish, modern, inviting communal rooms (bar, breakfast room, orangery), and tasteful bedrooms, and is perfectly located in the centre of Warwick within walking distance of pretty much everything. We had one or two issues while we were there which suggest a little bit of maintenance/tlc is needed, but these were dealt with faultlessly by the staff, in particular Farrah, who was not only super friendly and easy going but provided a level of customer service you just simply don't get these days! Indeed, all the staff who we encountered were exceptional, hands down they make the place. Would highly recommend and definitely wouldn't hesitate staying here again if we were in the area.
