We popped in for an evening meal and the chicken burger was out of this world. The burger had a satisfying weightiness to it. The chicken was covered in a delicious coating and the meat was moist. The burger had cheese and a delicious sauce, and was finished in a brioche bun. Honestly, for £11 I would go back just for this!

The chicken burger was exceptional!

Tried this place today for light snack, we had coffee, leek and potato soup , and sides of Rosemary chips....absolutely yummy👍👍👍
Great friendly fast service, nothing was too much trouble , will be back again... lovely quiet seating area outside

Lunch time snack

Previously visited this pub was a friendly vibrant established family friendly business and a real pleasure to visit. Even if the good wasn't five star the atmosphere made up for it.
A pleasant afternoon was always to be had, even solo.
What happened?

Oh dear

Booked for two nights for a family wedding, was informed on check in that they didn't close until 1.30am but if the noise was a little loud then to let them know and they would move people to the other end of the pub! We thought we were at a rave with the loudness of the music that went on until 2am would definitely not recommend for anyone with a family (we had a family room) as this room is right above the bar and the juke box and there is little consideration for guest trying to get some sleep.

At breakfast the landlord asked if we had slept ok and when we voiced our concerns he wasn't bothered.  The second night was carnival night and there was a live band on which we weren't told about when booking, this was then followed by another noisy night of music, my daughter went down at 1.15am to ask when the music would stop and was told 1.30am she said that we were trying to sleep and the barmaid just shrugged her shoulders - extremely poor customer service!!! 2am and the throng were still at it.

Shared bathroom really needs a good clean too bath disgusting!!

If I hadn't have had to pay on arrival I definitely wouldn't of being paying for the two nights of non-sleep!!!

Definitely not for families or those that like to sleep

Stayed one night with my friend, it is a lovely old pub and very friendly staff and owners made you feel very at home.  The room was clean although the sink was always blocking up in the room but left a plunger but this was broken, the toilet and bathroom in the hall were clean, the bathroom had a toilet with it as well and had a door code, there is another toilet without a code,  The breakfast was lovely and plenty of parking out the back,  We got back at 11.30 pm they played music till about 2 am ish but this didnt really bother us as we were drinking prosecco in bed lol they had family over so we didnt mind listening to lionel Richie,

One Night to see Paul Young and the Los Pacaminos Band at the Exchange

Did this same offer last year and enjoyed it so so much we ought another voucher when it came up again. Very quiet which was a shame as a nice old traditional pub with really friendly staff. Food was quiet basic but beautifully cooked and plentiful. Not sure if my pudding was homemade but it was really nice anyway. Would definitely return when another offer comes up.

Had a really lovely evening here. The food was first class, one of the nicest steaks I have had for a long time. All the dishes were cooked from scratch, and it showed! Nice cosy atmosphere, although not very busy. It was wet and cold so the fire was lit which added to the ambience.
All in all a very pleasant evening. We will definitely return.
