Went for afternoon tea with friends and this was most certainly the best afternoon tea we have had and such good value for money.  The sandwiches were fresh and full, the scones just amazing and the cakes light and very tasty.  Staff were attentive and knowlegable about the elements.  Certainly will return next time we are in the area.

Fabulous afternoon tea

We held a dinner here for a group of 40 following a charity day. The staff are excellent and the function room was ideal. Food was spot on with an excellent choice of wine. 

Even had a darts board which is very rare these days and very nostalgic. 

We had drinks in the bar the night before which was also without fault. 

I’ve seen some previous negative reviews and can’t believe it’s the same place.

Lovely pub/restaurant

Overall fantastic stay, the staff were friendly and attentive throughout. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was clean bar a couple of opened soaps left above the shower. Quiet location with a lovely beer garden and characteristic interior 👍

Excellent room, food and service

Great, friendly, no problems stay, the whole team like it, hotel or apartments, while working locally at Johnson Matthey. Our first choice every time lots of character, not a bland commercial establishment.

Homeley stay while working locally

We booked two apartments attached to The Old Bull Inn to stay overnight after a wedding.

From my call a week before for advice about booking a taxi, to breakfast, the staff were unfailingly friendly and efficient.

The apartments are a a few hundred yards away from the main building and are comfortable and practical.

One night stay

We've not been to the Old Bull Inn whilst it's been open (pre-lockdown) however, we noticed they offer Gourmet Burger Saturday nights and Sunday roast dinner takeaways at the moment. We ordered a beef and vegetarian Sunday roast and they did not fail to deliver. We picked the order up from the car park entrance with no contact. The food was lovely. It's all served hot on a foil tray with gigantic Yorkshire puddings on the side. This makes it ideal if you want to pop it in the oven when you get home just to make it a little hotter. The gravy is served in a separate container. All in all, a great deal for just under £11. We will definitely visit when this place reopens and in the meanwhile, we'll probably also try their pizzas! 

Great Sunday lunch takeaway 

popped out for lunch, my wife is a vegetarian and the goats chese tart was not on the 2 4 1 deal. Asked if it could be and no issues at all, they did it for us.

A simple but very good gesture and the food was lovely too.

Will be back and would highly recommend.

Good value, good management

My extended family and I just spent several nights at the Old Bull Inn. The Old Bull exceeded my expectations and I fully recommend it.

We stayed in two of the apartments, which are in a separate building from the main Inn and Pub. I can't comment on the standard rooms.

Our apartments were quite spacious. They had a clean, semi-modern look and feel - old world charm with recent updates. Plenty of dishes, glassware, etc. Felt like a real home (albeit a small one). Both of the apts had 2 bedrooms and a kitchen / living room but were configured differently (more/less room allocated to bedroom or sitting area).

Located in the very center of Royston with lots of little shops, mini grocers and food options just steps away. Staff was very nice, happy to help organize airport transfers.

Very nice experience

Very friendly and helpful staff. Good security up to the bedrooms access. Comfortable and clean bed. Nice toiletries. Small shower encased in plastic shower cabinet. Door did not quite close properly but no leaks to the floor. Quiet. Nice to see biscuits supplied with the hospitality tray. Central location.

Lovely staff in centrally located pub.

We stayed for two nights at the Old Bull Inn. Although not a large room, it had everything we needed, including an en suite, with shower (although quite small), which had ample hot water. The bed was comfortable. Although, it was a popular venue, we were not disturbed by anybody in the pub. There was parking, but it was a bit tight, but the market square car park is right next to the Inn. Breakfast was good. It would have just benefitted from having croissants, for those who don't like a cooked breakfast. The staff were really good, very friendly and helpful. The inn had real character. We enjoyed our stay.
