Stayed for 3 nights at the end of October… comfortable beds with warm duvets… spacious, clean and tidy room.. shower hot..  only a 5 minute walk to beach, harbour and town centre. 
RIchard and Cathy very nice people and chatty. 
Garden looked lovely and can imagine in the summer a lovely asset to the hotel.

Enjoyable stay

The whole place smelt damp, it's cramped, too busy decor wise and very dated. Would not recommend, nor give it two stars - should be downgraded to one at the highest.
Got a full refund and booked into a hotel.

Stayed for 30 minutes

Very dated ,was a hotel but now run as a guest house, no food available. Looks better from the outside than in, access from main rd mostly not available due to gates being padlocked, entrance is in Belle vue road. Safety issues in room with no grab rails to use when using shower in bath,and moving from room to en suite at lower level. Musty sort of smell in places. Area poor due to very large Hotel across the road full of asylem seekers being housed there.

Nothing Special

Total shock on arrival I was met by the manager in his dirty old T-Shirt and pyjama bottoms and slippers this was in the afternoon so untidy and scruffy I should have left then
The Hotel is in poor condition requiring lots of work to bring it up to standards 
The grounds and gardens are all overgrown and untidy 
My room was small cold with damp patches the carpet needed changing and the wardrobe door did not close there was about 5 plastic hangers no central heating on in the hotel just a small oil filled electric radiator to use in the room
I would never stay here again it is more like a 1 star hotel there was no breakfast available no lounge area to sit in and the dining room locked to the public 
Very poor accommodation the male manager was scruffy and a rude person 
But the owner a lady seemed to be friendly 
Give this place a miss


Shocked 

A wonderful experience from start to finish. I arrived at the hotel on the Monday 25th July and was greeted by Cathy, who is very friendly and always happy to help. Richard also greeted me and showed me to my room and showed me everything that was in the room.
As the week went on I had endless cups of teas whenever I was sitting around in the foyer area. Made plenty of friends with guests in the hotel and everybody was made to feel very welcome. My room was cleaned every day and always supplied with tea , coffee, sugar and milk. My bed was VERY comfortable and slept like a baby during the week. Had a single room with my own private bathroom with a bath and shower which was perfect for those nights when you fancy a dip in the bath.

I would definitely recommend this fine establishment as the staff are so friendly and would go above and beyond to help you!! Please stay at the Great Western Hotel!!!!

AMAZING HOLIDAY!! 😎

Lovely little guest house. I had a single room which was much larger than some I've booked in other places. Spotlessly clean. Lovely comfortable bed - I slept like a log! An easy walk into town for restaurants and bars.

Great service start to finish! Richard the owner rang us to double check we were ok and Still coming as we were late due to travelling issues. He then stayed up till 2am to greet us when we finally did arrive! I mistakenly booked a twin single room rather than a double room, again Richard changed our room when one became available which we were absolutely over the moon about! We enjoyed our stay that much we ended up staying for another night which we were so grateful for!!

The hotel itself is situated in a perfect location, close enough to walk to everything around within minutes but far away enough from the main strip to be quiet and relaxing! Our room was very clean and extremely comfortable and felt like a home away from home! I could not speak a higher word about this hotel & the owners & staff who couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating! We will definitely be returning in the upcoming months!

Amazing weekend

We arrived and were greeted by Cathy and Richard the owners who are such lovely people, very friendly.
The rooms we had my Daughter and myself were exceptional clean and tidy and the hotel is well situated for the town and the sea which is a two minute walk away. I will most certainly when visiting that area again book here. We had breakfast every day at a lovely little cafe called Chandlers and well recommended as the food was great and well priced. We look forward to when we can return again. Thank you again to Cathy and Richard for a most memorable stay and if you like railways this is the place to stay as they have a fab collection of railway memorabilia.

What a lovely clean cosy comfy hotel fantastic location this is a must stay hotel the couple that run this hotel are so wonderful nothing is to much trouble truly amazing I will definitely be staying here many times now I have found this little Gem

4 of us stayed 4nights bed&breakfast at The Great Western ,we were made very welcome by Cathy & Richard who cooked an excellent breakfast,covid precautions were handled very well ,we had a time slot allocated for breakfast to minimise contact with others,this was our first visit this year,having been prior to pandemic,we have booked for 2022,thankyou to both of you for looking after us.
