I hate to write bad reviews, preferring to allow hosts a right to reply, however I am extremely disappointed in the quality of my stay. Communication has been non-existent, I sent a message to check that it was ok to have my baby with me and heard nothing. But that’s one of those things and I’d deal with that on the day. 

Check-in was perfect, I was warmly greeted, shown to my room and had the offer to take my luggage up to my room. My room was also adequate enough for the price I’d paid and just for us to get our heads down for the night. I was even going to be highly complimentary on review sites!

However, this all changed at just after midnight that night. The fire alarm was going off, we made our way down to the  exit, to find all the other guests on the main landing, no member of staff to tell us what to do, where to go or to even turn the alarm off. There was a highly intoxicated, topless man being extremely loud and kept talking and trying to touch and play with my son. He then had an argument with another guest which was getting rather heated.(guest behaviour is beyond the hotel’s control but if we had had direction then I believe this wouldn’t have happened, and we wouldn’t have felt vulnerable). 

The rooms are above the inn, so the door to the main entrance is locked after 11pm but guests can use a side door to come and go. On this door was scribbled on a piece of card that there was no breakfast the next morning due to staff shortages, leave your keys in the door and exit via the side entrance to check out. This meant that when we were eventually left with no option but to ring and waste the time of the fire brigade, they couldn’t get to the alarm system to turn it off! They had to break the combination lock on the door! This all took place whilst we all waited outside, thankfully me and my son were given a warm seat in the fire engine.

It was deemed safe to return, however, I was concerned that as we didn’t know why it had gone off the first time that it could very well go off again, so I didn’t get the rest I needed before driving 3.5 hours to go home. Thankfully it didn’t!

I couldn’t speak to any staff before we left, as they weren’t open and no one was coming in anyway. I have tried to message ‘Kirsty’ again to try and have this discussion that there should be a much clearer policy on what should happen in the case that the fire alarm goes off at night. I am really disgusted at the lack of communication or to try to make this up to us in any way.

DO NOT STAY HERE, ITS NOT SAFE AND NO ONE CARES! AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Dangerous, no fire policy and zero communication

Booked to stay overnight on Air BnB. Easy enough. On arrival, they had no booking and so we had to wait for 30mins whilst they sorted it out with Air BnB.
Room was lovely. The manager asked if we wanted breakfast
We went and ate somewhere else and went to sleep to be woken up at 1am by the fire alarm. 45 minutes of waiting outside and the fire brigade managed to make it safe - so a perfect night’s sleep.
The room was £47 which was good value, so overall okay - an experience!!!

Value accommodation with an interesting experience!

We enjoyed 2 nights dinner , bed and breakfast.
first class food,hot food and dishes . generous portions , very welcome after long walks.

a warm and friendly welcome with first class food.

First off all the staff were great. We met with my parents for Sunday lunch and staff were very welcoming, helpful, especially to our two little boys.

The food on the whole was really tasty however, on the way home the three of us who had eaten the steak and ale pie began to feel unwell. Very sad about this as it was otherwise a nice meal.

The bathrooms could do with a bit of a spruce up though and a new toilet seat in the gents wouldn't go amiss. 

Great staff but what was in the pie? 

Lovely time spending the weekend at the kings arms, the hostesses were absolutely incredible, both smiling from ear to ear, not to mention the English breakfast! The EGG was the best thing on the plate! Honestly couldn’t believe how nice is was!! Will definitely be back again, save me plenty of those eggs vicky they were beautiful!

We stopped off at the King's Arms in our way over to The Lakes for some Lunch. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. We will definitely be back the next time we are passing through, or even stop over.

Wonderful friendly pub with delicious food

Taking a road trip from London to isle of sky and stayed here for one night. A lovely town and stay! Our room was very nice and had a little view. The bed was so comfortable we were able to have a sound night sleep after a week of traveling around the UK. The room was clean and quiet. The people are very friendly and it’s a very sweet town to walk around and explore especially if you appreciate history.

Absolutely class place, Alex is a fantastic barmaid with some great crack. Would recommend. Very affordable too! 

My friend Gary (from Australia) said it was one of the best free houses he had been to!

Lovely little place!

Very affordable prices Me and the lads could not believe it. What an amazing place. Barlady Alex is a fantastic host, would recommend. The lads never wanted to leave. I’ll never drink anywhere else. Even saw Ben stokes which rounded off a great night. Merry Christmas x

What a pub

We stayed as a group of 7 friends here for a wedding. The staff were so welcoming and down to earth, especially Alex. She made sure we had everything we needed and accommodated us so we could all sit together for a hearty full english breakfast. We ate dinner in the pub, which was also delicious! Couldn’t recommend enough - thank you!
