We have been going to the Lakes for many years but had never stayed in Keswick. Decided to add a 2 night stay at the start of our usual week in Ambleside.

This was a great choice - parking provided a real bonus and location is super as right in the centre of town. We stayed in the double aspect room with views over the hills and as at the back very quiet. Lovely bath with piping hot water and comfortable bed. The breakfast was superb and the host were a delight.

We have tied to book for 2024 but it seems they are not taking bookings for November

Great B&B

This was our third visit to Shemara ! Thank you Sayfon for making us so welcome. Our room was very clean and comfortable and so many personal touches. But the breakfasts…oh my goodness were AMAZING!

Returning visit

From the moment we arrived early and checked if we could leave the car prior to check in until the moment we left we couldn’t fault this place. Arriving in the rain we were offered complimentary umbrellas to take out with us. 
The location is ideal for the centre of Keswick, lots of eating and drinking places within walking distance.
The room was very spacious and clean. Full of the usual things with a few extra like shoe polish and cleaning kit. Bed very comfortable. 
Breakfast was outstanding with a wonderful choice. Fon the host couldn’t do more for you.
We will definitely be returning in the future,


Exceptional hotel

Had a fab 4 day break at this lovely guest house. We were made to feel v welcome from the moment we arrived. V clean and close to the centre of Keswick. Fabulous breakfast with plenty of options. Would recommend to friends and family and will definitely look to stay when next visiting Keswick 

Fabulous Stay

Great little family run B&B treat like family cleaning top notch and a breakfast that deserves 20 out 10 all fresh produce all locally sourced nothing to much trouble .
Happy to visit again soon and longer next time

One word Fantastic

This is in a brilliant location and is great value for money. We both felt very well looked after by the friendly owner during our stay here. We would definitely stay again next time we come to Keswick.

Lovely place to stay

Having found this bed and breakfast i was happy to discover that not was it near to the centre but the welcome was very warm and friendly.
Great rooms with all amenities and stunning views.
Would recommend highly and the breakfast was pretty good too. 

Close to the centre

Stayed at The Shemara for 3 nights recently and we were very impressed. Such a warm welcome from the hosts,who couldn't do enough for us. Discovered on the last day that Von's husband had recently passed away, which made that more poignant.
Our room was spacious,comfortable and very clean, with great views of Skiddaw. The location is so convenient,really central.
The breakfast was fantastic. 
Can't recommend the place highly enough-we will be back!

Warm welcome

Visited Keswick for a couple of days and stayed at the Shemara Guest House. Cannot praise the level of service and cleanliness enough. Great location with parking outside. Easy walk to Town Centre. Great selection for cooked breakfast provided. Lovely friendly family hosts. I wish them well for future business.  Highly recommended 5*.

A return visit after a few years after other accommodation fell through.

I'm pleased to say standards have remained high, with rooms and breakfasts up to standard and a friendly welcome.  Its very convenient for the town centre, the only downside is that parking can be limited, so you may find you need to put your car into the nearby car park.

A comment on some of the other reviews - in no way are the rules about staying here any problem, they seem to be stating common sense, and from some of the comments here it seems unfortunately necessary, and more a sad reflection on how some guests will treat other peoples homes...
