I booked a Sunday night special as a birthday present for my wife and could not have been more delighted. Comfortable and characterful room and an excellent dinner, with very generous quantities of food, made for a great stay. Staff very friendly throughout. For the quality of everything I thought it provided excellent value.

Excellent overnight stay

Lovely old building, Not seen at its best because of work going on but there is a notice about this on the website and it didn’t affect our stay. Everything was excellent, staff very friendly food was superb and the seating areas were very comfortable. The room was lovely but a little dark and the bed was a little low for me but all in all a lovely hotel I look forward to coming back sometime

Had a great stay at the Bildeston Crown.  Staff were friendly and very professional.  Bedroom were comfortable and roomy.  Ensuite clean with lots of lovely toiletries.  The menu choice was superb we stayed for two nights.  The food was presented really well and the standard and taste were superb if only this was more local to me.  The breakfast again had great choices and were presented and tasted delicious. We cycled around the villages and they looked after our bikes when we were not using them.  The service of the staff was attentive but not intrusive a right balance.  The hotel was really well maintained especially as it's very old.  It has kept the old charm but with a modern twist so its not the chintzy look.

Such a lovely weekend with friends, superb find

We were delighted - this is a high quality hotel - spacious bedroom, beautifully furnished throughout, warm and friendly staff, good food, good value,plenty of parking, well landscaped outside, and located in the heart of the Suffolk countryside but near Lavenham and Hadleigh. Our mid-week break was bliss, and we hope to come again soon

Stayed at The Crown for a night on a  tour through Suffolk.  What a fantastic experience! Room was airy and very comfortable; dinner was superb. The Manager was  so welcoming on arrival and set the tone for the whole stay.  Will be back!

Wonderful stay at The Crown

Had dinner here with friends who were visiting and have to say overpriced and underwhelmed.  Will not be back in a hurry which is a shame as the setting is beautiful.
There were 6 people in our party and only one had a great meal and that was the burger,  But it was the most expensive burger she has every had. 
We eat out a lot, and have had some lovely meals in a range of pubs and restaurants across Suffolk but this one is now off the list.  Also very poor selection for dietary requirements (despite advising restaurant in advance).

Disappointing

What a wonderful place! Stayed on a business trip with a work colleague. The accomodation was top class for the price and the food along with the service were well above expectations. Personal favourites were the oysters as a starter and the Bildeston Burger. Staff were friendly, engaging and couldn't do enough for you.

Back to excellence. Great service and food . Were a bit disappointed with service last year  , but back under former management and brilliant everything.  Will be coming again soon for definite. New menu.  Lovely 

Fantastic 

I visited the Bildeston Crown on the 6th December with some friends and I was very disappointed. I ordered the beef ragu and it came out in a cereal bowl with three cracks in and was less than half for, for the price  of the dish I was surprised how little food I got for a main course.

I didn’t think to say anything at the time, until I got home and how horrendous stomach cramps and was feeling under the weather for the next day. I was not the only one that felt really ill after that visit. 

I would not recommend due to over priced portions and poor food hygiene.

Poor experience

Sunday lunch as we were in the area and had read the good reviews. 

The staff were brilliant. Every single person who we interacted with was perfect. The interior, atmosphere and decor was great too. 

The food was fine. Not brilliant, but fine. One of us had the vegan open ravioli, which was OK, but definitely not £26 worth of OK. A bit bland. The other one had a vege cottage pie which was much more flavourful (and more appropriately priced. 

We’d definitely return, but hope for a different vegan option.
