Really great experience in a an authentic country hotel. The owners were friendly, welcoming and great hosts. Breakfast was great and our two dogs were welcomed and comfortable in rooms that met all our needs. Great hotel in quiet country setting.

Authentic and welcoming country hotel

Large room, confutable bed, quiet location. Breakfast was freshly cooked and tasted great. Good value for money if they were no issues.

ISSUES!
There was a notice on the door says, ‘due to staff issues we can’t serve dinner’. Booked into the room but there was only one set of towels and only 2 pillows had pillowcases that were clean, got more towels & pillow slips from the reception, other feedback reports the same, so I suspect an attempt to save on the laundry bill by the hotel. 

We then had a fire alarm which the receptionist couldn’t stop, and she had to wait for someone else to come stop the alarm. 

Went out to for dinner, when we got back to our room at 10pm there was a couple in the room above us moving about, they then started having intense physical exercise on and off got the next 3 hours, complete with banging headboard, squeaking bed and creaking floorboards. At 1am they left in a taxi!!

6:40 am, another fire alarm. The fire brigade turned up, after a guest had called them as there were no hotel staff. The fire brigade managed to get hold of someone from the hotel and they turned up after 7am. He was rude didn’t apologise to any guests and said someone had been smoking in one of the rooms. 

Not the worsted hotel we’ve stayed in but it’s in the list!

BTW. the man from the hotel who turned up a 7am appeared to be the same man getting in the taxi at 1am!!

Entertaining, for the wrong reasons

Stayed for one night as visiting family near by. Rooms have been refurbished but still needs a few finishing touches. Our room didn’t have a shower only shower head fixed to bath taps but pressure very weak, could only have a bath.
No mirror or waste bin in the bathroom.
Breakfast was very hit and miss and not very organised, having to ask for things which should have been there. 
Only one member of staff on the bar and only one young lad taking orders for breakfast and bringing to the table. Not really good impression for price you pay. I expected the hotel to be very old and quaint but just lacks the village pub feel

Overpriced

Incredible little place stayed for one night with work rooms clean , front of house very nice and the food absolutely incredible, definitely recommended, would advise anyone this way to come and try , breakfast great to served from 7 thanks

Fantastic stay

We stayed here because it was round the corner from a friend's house we were visiting for the evening. If it had been half the price I probably wouldn't have given such a harsh rating but for £90 a night it was not good value. The room was freezing and there was a breeze coming in through the window. I appreciate it's a pub so wasn't looking for luxury but it could really do with a bit more care & attention or a reduction in price. At breakfast we were offered tea or coffee then told oh, sorry there's no coffee (pretty sure this is just a basic staple for a B&B). As we're vegetarian the options for breakfast were limited so we asked for scrambled egg on toast (which was dry, no butter or no option to be given butter) and a small bowl of boiling hot beans which I burnt my tongue on. The room was clean and it was a quiet night so it was fine but just over priced. We were told check out was at 11am and we were just leaving when we got a knock on the door at 11.02am asking when we were checking out (not ever had that before.) It wasn't terrible but it really could do with some more care.

Expensive

The room was freezing cold and the heating didn’t work.

The bathroom was disgusting and filthy 
The bar and restaurant was closed at 8.00pm because the manager hadn’t put Any staff on the rot .
I expect a full refund but I doubt I will get it.

The team here are fantastic couldn't fault them, stayed for 4 nights, the rooms great, inviting, warm, friendly.
The food was fantastic, home made, couldn't fault it. Breakfast was great, set me up until everning meal.

Excellent Staff, Great Food, Fantastic Place

Stopped with my family for a bite to eat and a quick drink and there is not one thing to fault. The staff we amazing, the food exceptional and the atmosphere was so chilled out. Very covid friendly and following all the Correct procedures. Then to top it off the price was brilliant. Thank you again.

Beautiful

Prtovided with wrong accommodation from that booked. Wouldn't correct at time and wouldn't offer any recompense subsequently. Uncomfortable stay through the error.
Wouldn't recommend this hotel as change of management does not appear to have brought about improved customer service. Even provided out of date information.
